Yes, it's true. Far from being like today's comfortable backpacks. But it served its purpose, and in our home it was mostly used to carry firewood from the woodshed to the house. And as you can guess, firewood is not light 🤣 But the work was rewarded with the joy of Grandpa and Grandma
