My long post, new babies and February HPUD Guessing Contest

I haven't been as active as I would have liked in January and made 7 posts only. Most of my time was spent crafting a very long post which I just finished last night. I was struggling to keep it just under 2000 words but to me, it's important to share the post, even if nobody ends up reading it. I'll be posting it tomorrow, and it's about a big scandal in UK. I hope you will find it an interesting read, but if you're not into reading long posts, it will include a few videos that you can watch instead.

Anyway back to this month's HPUD. I just powered up 300 Hive. I also noticed Hive has dropped below 30c and if you are looking to grow your stake, it might not be a bad time to do that.

February HPUD Guessing Contest

I was gifted quite a few plants last year, and I'm not the best known for having green fingers. Luckily most have still survived despite being neglected by me. Like this plant, it has grown many new baby plants even though the soil it pretty dry.
20240201_105624.jpg

I just realised if I lift the plant a little the roots are exposed. Not good 😰. I know it needs repotting, but I have been too lazy to do it.
20240201_105838.jpg

So I have decided the best thing to do is to post it on Hive to force myself to repot the poor plant. This month HPUD Gussing contest is

How many new baby plants have grown around the main plant?
20240201_105914.jpg

In order to find out, I will have to remove the entire plant, separate out the new baby plants and repot everything. What a great way to kill two birds with one stone!! At the moment I can't check how many baby plants there are without damaging it, but I think there's somewhere between 8 to 15.

This year I'm going to change my prize pool to make it more in line with the spirit of HPUD. The winner who guess correctly or the nearest to the correct answer will get 100 Hive powered up to your account. If there are more than one winner, you will share the 100 HP. And same as previous, if you win and powered up on HPUD I will double your win. As usual, I will upvote your entry and the % will be based on your level of engagement as the whole reason I started this HPUD Guessing Contest was to drive up quality engagement on Hive. Good luck everyone!!

I have noticed it too and I missed your posts and it has been a while since I have not joined the HPUD guessing game. I wonder what scandal in the UK is that but I am interested to read about it.

By the way, my answer is 12 baby plants. Thank you.

I suspect it’s the post office, and Fujitsu software, we were just talking about it at work today, if the money paid back went to bonuses, they should all be locked up.

Nine baby plants.

Yes it is, just posted it yesterday. Those people really have no shame, lying like that

I wonder what's the biggest news there in UK. Anyway, that succulent plant produced more baby plants and I guess there are 14 of them.

I have a question Ma'am, do we guess once or is it okay to guess more? Just asking.

Just one guess please, otherwise you could guess the whole range, that would be no fun 😄

Yeah it's true😀. I'll stick with my guess Ma'am.

I joined the hpud too and 300 is a lot, I wonder what the news is though. Your aloe vera plant looks so healthy and I guess there are 12 new plants..

It's a great habit to power up every month, if not more often. Good luck with your guess

My guess is 37. That is a really nice looking aloe plant. I had one a long time ago, but I wasn't able to keep it alive. Story of my life with plants sadly...

I think I do just that little better then you, coz I have more than one plant so the chance of 100% death is a little lower 😄

That is totally possible. I am still a horrible gardener though!

I don't know more bout plants honestly but let me join this one, is it 13?

Reading the post makes me remember how I take repotting my "Prince of Orange" plant for granted for a few months but I'm glad I was able to do it last weekend!

Anyways, I'm guessing they're 13?Thanks for the initiative! Starting to wonder what's this scandal about!..

They grow so quick that I can't keep up with them and have to keep on giving them away all the time. Good luck with your guess

I've this aloe Vera plant in my house.. they grow when they've enough water.

Going to be a really hard guess but I think it's like 13 baby plants..

I keep on forgetting to water them 😅, luckily they don't seem to mind too much

Aloe Vera, is a plant widely used in my native country, and it is grown with little effort. It does not require humid soils and sometimes with little care it gives us its green stalks. Here in Canada, it is not as prolific as in the Caribbean “warm zones”. I have not had much contact with this noble plant, I am inclined to calculate that the possible shoots in your case are 8.

I think they're quite good for beginners or lazy people like me, so far not that many plants have died under my watch, so I guess that's a good thing. Hope that will continue

I hope you get back to being active with your posting, longer posts are always fun to read when there are lots of pictures in them 😅

It's funny how plants grow so well even without much care given to them, those baby plants look so healthy.
I'm guessing there are 15 of them.

Happy 300 Hive power to you! 🥳

Some months are like that, it's hard to get a post out more but I hope February be good for you.

Those aloe vera plants are growing so well even when they are getting neglected 😄, they want to survive!

For my guess, I will go for 11 new aloe vera babies 💚.

I'm not too concerned with not writing posts all the time as I don't want to write a post for the sake of writing one for rewards. I'd much rather spend time doing a decent one and get more interaction, I thinks that's way more valuable. Good luck with your guess

I know that too well, hehe. I was actually coming from the angle when you wish to write but you keep getting other things that need your attention outside Hive.

Thank you 🥰

Well I guess that's because most of us have built our world around hive and other things seems to be the extras.

And also there is a season for everything, there will surely come a time when you will get to post more in a month and other months it might just be few.

I can't find an Aloe Vera here in France, I want to have one for my hair treatment. XD 15 is my guess. Maybe you can send some baby aloe veras to France. Haha kidding. :D

Ooooh, looking forward to reading the scandal post tomorrow 🍿🍿

I always love the HPUD competitions that you run and this month's is fun as usual.

I have Aloe plants too and every year they reproduce too, amazing that they don't need any pollination or anything..

Anyway my guess is 15 or more.

They grow like rabbits don't they? I keep on forgetting to water them, till they look as though they're about to die, and then they come back to life again. I feel quite sorry for treating them so bad 😅

Ooo scandal... I'm intrigued 👀

100 Hive prize pool! Wow that's very generous.

Quite hard to tell from the photo how many baby's there are so it's a shot in the dark guess for me. I'll go with 15.

I'm hoping the prize pool will encourage more people to power up themselves and create more engagement, even if it's only once a month. Nothing worse than having a dead community

I had similar months last year where I couldnt be as active on Hive as I wanted and Im prepare now if it happens again, I guess is part of the journey, very few can have the time and will to just be posting every day but we all contribute and work with what we have at the moment, just stay positive and active ✌️

Well, in the long run, you have to because like that present situation they will be crowded in that small pot. You may transfer that sprouts to another pot.

Looking forward to see tomorrow's post and I really liked how you changed the prize. It's Power Up Day so it's better to power up rewards 😂 It's very hard to guess I think there are 10 baby plants

I figured a power up prize will be more applicable as I want people to grow with Hive. Not keen on paying some winners who just withdraw the funds, that defeats the purpose of my contest. I think I should have changed it a long time ago, don't know why I didn't

It takes time to grow your account on Hive. If you have time, be more active, visit other people's blogs and engage with them to grow your presence and build your network. It is not easy, but it's worth it in the long run, as I'm sure you've been told by your onboarders

Happy to see your plants are still surviving. This succulent plant is so cute together with its baby but reporting is needed.

So my guess is probably 10. So you need 10 other pots for repotting your new succulent babies.

The most lovely thing about plant is their green beauty. You received one of the beautiful part of nature as a gift. Happy HPUD @livinguktaiwan, I hope you are enjoying your days around the world.

I 'm here to make a guess about baby plants. My guess is 12 baby plants, I 'm hopeful it will be too close prediction if not exact 😕.

You can count me in @livinguktaiwan for a long post😅.. I dont know if it’s just me or others thought about asking for the other side of the plant as I was counting the new buds😂🤣 nonetheless, its fun to play such guessing game,. It may not sound lucky as it bears negative notion to some beliefs, my guess is 13.maybe this will be the first lucky 13? 🙊😅

ha ha! nice try asking for the other side 😃 actually even if I showed the other side, it's very difficult to count accurately, I've tried a few times now and it's hard to determine if some of the leaves are part of the same baby plant or another one. Good luck with your 13

Hello friend @livinguktaiwan , I have had a terrible week, one of my brothers had an accident and fractured his collarbone, he already had surgery and is fine thank God, but I always have to run to help others, so I was between hospitals, races and many days without sleep.

However I don't forget the contest, today I remembered 😅, poor little plant I'm sure she gave birth to 12 plants.

Don't worry about the length of a post, if it's about gossip I'm sure people read it easily, I once did a 4 thousand word post, and everyone who read it told me they loved it and threw flowers at me.

Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear about your brother, hope he's better now and you must take care of yourself as well.

I've been working on being more green fingered myself too, I'm reading up on a lot of plants I have in the house and where they need to be placed for optimum growth. There's a really good app that help's identify what plant you have as well, then I google the aftercare for them. Both kids have plants in their room, your nephew has two succulents in dinosaur pots that we found in Sainsbury's the other week which we are teaching him to look after.

I would guess there's about 12 little babies.
