Hellooooo, hellooooo! Greetings my dear DiyHub creatives. Today I want to share my entry to the contest A tribute to cats. These little animals that have been domesticated to be an important part of our lives. Very sad because our kitten Nala Nacira has been missing for a week now and although it is common for them to get lost for a few days, we already believe that we will not see her again.

Today I want to pay a great tribute to her, who has been part of our family for more than two years although we still hope that she will return,

This painting represents the love of two beings who snuggle up in the immensity of the dark night, only with the twinkling of the stars and the music provided by the blowing wind as the melody of those who make them fall in love in the dark.

When I was creating the painting, I was not only focused on the two kittens, but on the representation itself of two lovers and their meeting when nobody sees them.

¡Holaaaa, holaaaaa! Saludos mis estimados creativos de DiyHub. Hoy quiero compartirles mi entrada al concurso Un tributo a los gatos. Estos animalitos que han sido domesticados para ser parte importante en nuestras vidas. Muy triste porque ya hace una semana que nuestra gatita Nala Nacira está desaparecida y aunque es común en ellos perderse por unos días ya creemos que no volveremos a verla.

Hoy quiero hacerle un gran tributo a ella, que ha formado parte de nuestra familia por más de dos años aunque todavía guardamos la esperanza que regrese,

Este cuadro representa el amor de dos seres que se acurrucan en la inmensidad de la noche oscura, sólo con el titilar de las estrellas y la música que brinda el soplar viento como la melodía de los que los enamoran en la penumbra.

Cuando estaba creando el cuadro no sólo iba enfocada en los dos gatitos, sino en la representación en sí de dos amantes y su encuentro cuando nadie los ve.

STEP BY STEP // PASO A PASO

Lo primero que haremos sera preparar la pieza de MDF con las lijas. Comenzando con la más gruesa, la Nº 80 para eliminar las imperfecciones del corte y eliminar los filos de las orillas. Luego utilizamos la de 120, con la que vamos alisar y limpiar la superficie y terminamos con las más fina, la de 180 con la que conseguiremos una superficie muy suave y lisa.

The first thing we will do is prepare the MDF piece with the sandpaper. Starting with the thickest, No. 80 to remove imperfections from the cut and remove sharp edges. Then we use the 120, with which we will smooth and clean the surface and we finish with the finest, the 180 with which we will achieve a very smooth and smooth surface.

With the tape measure we measure to locate the center of the upper end where we are going to place the marquetry hook. To facilitate the introduction we use the forceps and the hammer.

Con la cinta métrica medimos para ubicar el centro del extremo superior donde vamos a colocar el gancho de marquetería. Para facilitar la introducción usamos la pinza y el martillo.

With the white water paint we make a layer that will serve as a base to start painting without the need to make many layers with the cold paint, since this layer prevents the absorption of the others. We let it dry very well.

Con la pintura de agua blanca realizamos una capa que nos servirá de base para comenzar a pintar sin necesidad de realizar muchas capas con la pintura al frío, ya que esta capa evita la absorción de las otras. Dejamos secar muy bien.

With the No. 180 sandpaper, we pass gently to remove the excess or possible elevations of paint, to obtain a smooth and smooth surface again so that the cold paint slides without problems.

Con la lija Nº 180 pasamos suavemente para retirar el exceso o posibles elevaciones de pintura, para obtener nuevamente la superficie lisa y suave para que deslice la pintura al frío sin problemas.

We begin to paint our picture, beginning with the dark night. For this we will use the black paint that we will alternate and degrade with navy blue and bluish grey, moistening the brush with water each time we are going to carry out the gradient, since cold paint dries quickly to carry out this technique. We will do this until the middle of the piece. For the rest we will only use black paint.

Comenzamos a pintar nuestro cuadro, comenzando con la noche oscura. Para ello utilizaremos la pintura negra que iremos alternando y degradando con la azul marino y el gris azulado, humedeciendo el pincel con agua cada vez que vayamos a realizar el degradado, ya que la pintura al frío es de secado rápido para realizar esta técnica. Esto lo haremos hasta la mitad de la pieza. Para el resto sólo utilizaremos la pintura negra.

Con el cepillo dental y la pintura blanca vamos a realizar un salpicado por todo el cuadro.

With the toothbrush and the white paint we are going to make a splash all over the painting.

Once it is completely dry, we are going to give it a shiny effect, for which we are going to use a special acrylic wax for this type of material and that will not make the paint run. We apply with a sponge quickly so that it dries evenly.

Una vez que esta completamente seco, vamos a darle un efecto brillante, para lo cual vamos a utilizar una cera acrílica especial para este tipo de material y que no hará que la pintura se corra. Aplicamos con una esponja de forma rápida para que se seque uniformemente.

This is the result we get with acrylic wax.

Este es el resultado que obtenemos co la cera acrílica.

With the liner brush and the white glue, we make scattered stars in the upper part of the painting and fill it with iridescent glitter. We let dry.

Con el pincel liner y la pega blanca realizamos estrellas dispersas en la parte superior del cuadro y rellenamos con escarcha tornasol. Dejamos secar.

To make the brick framework we are going to use the plastic sheet that I extracted from a disposable container. With the rule I made a rectangle and cut. Then I did 3 layers of cold terracotta paint, letting it dry very well between each layer.

Para realizar el entramado de ladrillos vamos a utilizar la lámina plástica que extraje de un envase desechable. Con la regla hice un rectángulo y recorté. Luego realicé 3 capas de pintura al frío color terracota, dejado secar muy bien entre cada capa.

Una vez seca la pintura, realicé el tramado con la regla y el marcador negro.

Once the paint was dry, I made the pattern with the ruler and the black marker.

I also added a layer of acrylic wax to get a glossy finish.

Igualmente agregué una capa de cera acrílica para conseguir un acabado brillante.

To make the cats I used a printed drawing and traced each of the cats separately to make the pattern and cut out individually.

Para realizar los gatos utilicé un dibujo impreso y calqué por separado cada uno de los gatos para hacer el patrón y recorté individualmente.

Then I transferred each pattern to the felt, one for the black and one for the white and cut out.

Luego transferí cada patrón a el fieltro, uno para el negro y otro para el blanco y corté.

Already with all the pieces painted and cut, I formed my painting called "Cats also love"

Taking the painting and I glued the framework in the lower central part using silicone glue.

Ya con todas las piezas pintadas y cortadas, formé mi cuadro denominado "Los gatos también aman"

Tomando el cuadro y pegué el entramado en la parte central inferior utilizando la pega de silicón.

Then I placed the figure of the black cat on the lattice and glued it with silicone. With the angled brush and the white paint I shaded the cat to highlight it against the background of the painting.

Luego coloqué la figura del gato negro, que representa a el macho, sobre el entramado y pequé con silicón. Con el pincel angular y la pintura blanca realicé el sombreado del gato para resaltarlo con el fondo del cuadro.

In the same way I made with the white cat, which represents the female and for differential I placed on the cat a jewelry butterfly pendant.

De la misma forma realicé con el gato blanco, que representa a la hembra y para diferencial coloqué sobre la gata un dije mariposa de bisutería.
