Hello friends and members of Olio di Balena community!
Christmas 2023 has now passed and in a little over three days the year 2023 will end and a new year will begin that I hope will bring more serenity and especially peace to a world that seems more and more to be taking steps backward instead of forward.
Christmas was also the topic of the 18th Olio di Balena-InLeo mini-contest but before showing the Christmas-themed threads that participated in the previous mini-contest it is time to post the new theme of the new mini-contest that is now in its 19th year.
The Olio di Balena - Inleo mini-contest is the result of a collaboration between the Olio di Balena and InLeo communities and has, as always, a double objective:
- create a moment of interaction and sharing among the users of Olio di Balena
- raise knowledge of a useful tool created by Inleo for Hive communities: the Community Threads
In fact the UI of Inleo is a front-end that can be used to interact and post on all Hive communities such as Peakd and Ecency and also allows writing Community threads.
Let's find out together the theme of the new mini contest and also the winners of the mini contest that ended december 25, 2023.
New Mini Contest Topic
The end of a year is the perfect time to make balances but also to set goals for the new year, and I have chosen just such goal planning as the theme for the new mini-contest.
The theme for the new contest is:
Write a thread in which you share a goal you would like to achieve in the new year and also explain why you chose it!"
Important Notes:
- Your thread must also contain 1 photo or 1 image or 1 screenshot
- Enter a photo/image pertaining to the topic of the contest. The photo/image must be your own, it can be a photo/image you have in your photo archive but you cannot use a photo taken from the web even if it is copyright free and you cannot use AI generated photos.
- Threads containing only a photo or only text will not be considered.

Start: December 28, 2023
End: January 1, 2024 - 11:59 p.m. UTC-1
Mini Contest Rules
Rule 1:
You must create a Thread within the Olio di Balena community (= a thread with tag #oliodibalena).
Rule 2:
Write a thread in which you share a goal you would like to achieve in the new year and also explain why you chose it!
Important Notes:
Your thread must also contain 1 photo or 1 image or 1 screenshot
Enter a photo/image pertaining to the topic of the contest. The photo/image must be your own, it can be a photo/image you have in your photo archive but you cannot use a photo taken from the web even if it is copyright free and you cannot use AI generated photos.
Threads containing only a photo or only text will not be considered.
Rule 3:
In the thread you must include an image of your own or a photo taken from your personal photo archive or a photo/screenshot you took pertaining to the contest topic.
Rule 4:
you can choose to write your thread in Italian language or English language or both.
Rule 5:
you must be a member of the Olio di Balena community.

the contest starts today, December 28, 2023 and ends at 11:59 p.m. (Italian time = UTC+1) on Monday, January 1, 2024.

How to Create a Thread in Olio di Balena
(Step-by-step guide)
A Thread is a Twitter-style post created and stored on the Hive blockchain through the use of the Inleo User Interface (UI)
A Community Thread is a thread posted within a Hive community and viewable within the Communities->"Community Name"->Threads section of the Inleo UI.
Olio di Balena community threads can be created and viewed within the Threads section of the page: https://inleo.io/communities/hive-146620
A thread is viewable in the Olio di Balena community if it contains the tag #oliodibalena
Creating a Community Thread is a very simple task and I will show you the steps to follow.
Note: The rebrand of Leofinance to Inleo happened happened relatively recently and I didn't have time to update the guide that keeps the screenshots of Leofinance but the steps given in my guide are the same to follow on Inleo as well.
In the next mini-contest I hope to be able to also update the screenshots in my guide that will show the new interface ;)
Step 1: Login to Inleo.
- Step 1.1: You have to go to https://inleo.io/ and then you have to click on Log in
Step 1.2: On the next screen you have several log in options to choose from including:
LeoAuth: You have to enter your Hive username, your Posting Key and then you have to click on Log in.
Log in with Hive KeyChain: You have to enter your Hive username, then you have to click on Log in and then you have to click on Confirm within the Hive Keychain screen.
Step 2: Enter the Home Page of the Olio di Balena.
- Step 2.1: You need to click on Communities.
- Step 2.2: You must enter "Olio di Balena" or part of the name in the search field.
- Step 2.3: You must click on the box that contains the logo and name of Olio di Balena
- Alternative Step 2: you need to go directly to the link: https://inleo.io/communities/hive-146620
Step 3: Create and post the Mini Contest Participation Thread.
- Step 3.1: Within the Home Page of Olio di Balena you need to click on Threads
- Step 3.2: Then you need to enter the text of your thread in the box that contains the #oliodibalena tag
- Step 3.3: Then you need to click on Thread in the bottom right corner.
Operation completed! Easy right? ;)
Now all you have to do is participate in this nice mini contest ;)
Advice: If the text of your thread exceeds the maximum capacity of a single thread you can also write a threadstorm.
In this case only in the first thread you have to insert:
- the tag oliodibalena
- the tag threadstorm
- the 1/x indication where x is the number of threads your threadstorm contains.
All other threads after the first one you must enter them as comments to your first thread indicating for each thread the number of the tread such as 2/5, 3/5, ... 5/5

The Participants and the Announcement of the Winners of the Eighteenth Edition of the Mini Contest (December 21 - December 25, 2023)
In the mini contest that ended on Christmas Day (Monday, Dec. 25, 2023) there were 10 entries, three more entries than in the previous mini contest.
The record number of entries stands still at the 17 entries recorded in the mini-contest that ended on Oct. 22, but I am glad that there was an increase in entries.
The theme of the 18th mini contest was Christmas.
Participants in the 18th Odb-Inleo mini-contest had to do the task that you can read in the screenshot below.

Il Natale 2023 è ormai passato e tra poco più di tre giorni l'anno 2023 terminerà e inizierà un nuovo anno che spero possa portare più serenità e soprattutto pace in un mondo che sembra sempre di più fare passi indietro invece che in avanti.
Il Natale è stato anhe l'argomento del 18° mini-contest Olio di Balena-InLeo ma prima di mostrare i threads a tema natalizio che hanno partecipato al precedente mini-contest è arrivato il momento di pubblicare il nuovo tema del nuovo mini-contest che è arrivato alla diciannovesima edizione.
Il mini contest Olio di Balena - Inleo è nato dalla collaborazione tra la comunità di Olio di Balena e InLeo e ha come sempre un duplice obiettivo:
- creare un momento di interazione e condivisione tra gli utenti di Olio di Balena
- far conoscere un utile strumento creato da InLeo per le comunità di Hive: i Community Threads
Infatti la UI di Inleo è un front-end utilizzabile per interagire e pubblicare su tutte le comunità di Hive come ad esempio Peakd ed Ecency ed è anche un front-end che permette di scrivere i Community threads.

Un Thread è un post Twitter-style creato e memorizzato sulla blockchain di Hive tramite l'utilizzo della Inleo User Interface (UI)
Un Community Thread è un thread pubblicato all'interno di una comunità di Hive e visualizzabile all'interno della sezione Communities->"Nome Comunità"->Threads della Inleo UI.
I Community threads della comunità di Olio di Balena possono essere creati e visualizzati nella sezione Threads della pagina: https://inleo.io/communities/hive-146620
Nota Importante: Un thread è visualizzabile nella comunità di Olio di Balena se contiene il tag #oliodibalena
Creare un Community Thread è un'operazione molto semplice e ti mostro i passi da seguire.
Note: Il rebrand di Leofinance in Inleo è avvenuto da poco tempo e non ho avuto ancora il tempo di aggiornare la guida in questo post che mantiene le schermate di Leofinance ma i passi indicati nella mia guida sono gli stessi da seguire anche su Inleo.

Passo 1: Login su InLeo

Adesso non devi fare altro che partecipare a questo bel mini contest ;)
Consiglio: Se il testo del tuo thread è superiore alla capienza massima di un singolo thread puoi anche scrivere un threadstorm.
In questo caso solo nel primo thread devi inserire due tag:

I Partecipanti e l'Annuncio dei Vincitori della diciottesima Edizione del Mini Contest (21 dicembre - 25 dicembre 2023)
Nel mini contest terminato il giorno di Natale (lunedi 25 dicembre 2023) ci sono state 10 partecipazioni, tre partecipazioni in più rispetto al mini contest precedente.
Il record di partecipazioni è fermo alle 17 partecipazioni registrate nel mini-contest terminato il 22 ottobre ma sono contento che ci sia stato un aumento di partecipanti.

E speriamo nel 2024 di terminare la specializzazione attuale. Mai un lavoro accademico mi aveva procurato infinite rogne😣 (poichè questa è la prima volta che gli studenti siamo senza professori che orientano e correggono i lavori accademici obbligatori: per quel che paghiamo di retta, non possiamo aspettarci il livello di una università standard, ma ciononostante esigono una formattazione perfetta, mah, vedremo, speriamo). Lo screenshot è un particolare saliente della pagina iniziale della mia specializzazione, spero vada perchè qui era davvero impossibile scattare foto dell'università (mi dovrei spostare di città per l'edificio fisico, dove peraltro siamo dispensati dal mettere piede). A proposito: la mia latitanza di questi tempi, oltre a quelle questioni legislative e fiscali del mio paese più la salute che zoppica, è dovuta al rognoso lavoro accademico (con il quale ne avrò presumibilmente fino a inizio luglio, quantomeno). Sto avendo, ma proprio a malapena, il tempo giusto per il tuo contest, dato che i thread sono brevi. Temo che per la mia scrittura creativa dovrete attendere la specializzazione conclusa, oramai😖.
