[ENG-ESP] 💕✨ LOH Contest #155: Menstruation and Some Routines 🍫🍩

ENGLISH

Hi dear Hive users ✨💕!

Hello hello beautiful women of this community ✨💕, I hope you are getting ready to receive an excellent week 😌, I'm here again with my participation in this contest, for this week the questions are proposed by @nainaztengra, and particularly I have decided to answer the first question, taking into account that coincidentally at this time I am going through my menstrual bleeding 🤣, so it seems super appropriate to share with you some of my routines or little habits that allow me to have less painful menstruation days 🤣, all with the aim of taking care of myself both physically and psychologically, so here I leave you the post to go and see the questions of this installment ✨.

We Women have multiple phases in our life where we go through hormonal imbalance, like monthly menstruation, pregnancy, menopause. Not only our physical but our mental health also gets impacted. Share with us, how do you take care of these sensitive times and take care of your physical and mental health?

One of the things that I have implemented for some time to take care of my body in the days of menstruation, is mainly to know in what days of my menstrual cycle I am, and to know that I have been using the Flo app, because I must confess that before I did not even give importance to know what day of the month I was going to menstruate, but little by little I have been informing myself and giving the necessary importance to this information, because we must take into account that the hormonal imbalance of the menstrual cycle not only occurs during the days of bleeding, When I was a teenager I didn't understand why there were days when I genuinely felt ugly or my face and hair looked bad, and it's precisely because I didn't give importance to knowing my cycle and knowing what day I was on, understanding that has also helped my self-esteem and therefore my mental health 💞.

Another thing I do precisely on bleeding days is to stop drinking coffee, for those who do not know caffeine contributes to fluid retention, and during these days our body tends to retain fluid, that's why we swell and give us leg pains, sometimes we can even swell our feet, and reduce coffee while not eliminate these symptoms if it is true that reduces a little, it happens to me personally that coffee consumption even increases the cramps, in fact this week as I mentioned at the beginning I had my bleeding days and specifically the second day I arrived to my internship with too much sleep and exhaustion, so I made the decision to drink coffee at breakfast, having super clear that later I would face the consequences of that decision, which in fact manifested at night with strong cramps, so events like this are what confirm that indeed this action allows me to contribute to my physical condition during these days.

Emotions are something that is very affected these days, so to mitigate this the first thing I do is to validate how I'm feeling, trying to understand that it is a product of hormonal imbalance and allowing myself to feel my emotions, how do I do it? Well, I usually feel like crying a lot these days, even for silly things (and I say this with propriety 🤣), so I allow myself to cry as much as necessary, when I get into a bad mood I try to warn myself that it's not a good time to make me angrier 🤣, and I try to increase my doses of music and movies, mainly because this allows me to relax 🤣. I tend to succumb to my cravings, I won't deny it and I'm a true believer that food cravings during these days also contribute to our mental health 🤣🤣🤣, at the end of the day it's better to pass the bad mood or sadness with a donut or a chocolate 🍫😌.

And well basically this is what I do to try to mitigate the symptoms generated by the hormonal imbalance caused by menstruation, another thing I do is to avoid washing my hair the first day of bleeding, first because usually this day I get headaches and second because my grandmother always said that was bad, and considering that she lived 93 years, well I think she is someone from whom you can follow advice 🤣🤣.

The coffee tip is very helpful. I was not aware of it, I wish I had known earlier, though I am not a regular coffee drinker. Knowing it you just become mindful. When we are aware of our body we can take better care of ourself.

I didn't know about it either a few years ago, and I am very grateful to have come across it, because it has really helped me a lot over the years, and whenever I have the opportunity to share it, I do so because I know that it is little known 🤔.

Haha, it sounds like your grandmother was a wise woman! 😄 Old wives' tales and family wisdom can sometimes have a surprising amount of truth to them. And hey, if a donut can help make that time of the month a little easier, I say go for it!

It is important to follow your body's cues and do what feels good to you. As I once said to one of our ladies, "What works for one person might not work for another," everyone is different. Therefore, the only thing that really matters is if eating a donut, skipping a hair wash, or engaging in any other routines makes you feel better. Just go for it,girl!💪😬

My grandmother was a wise woman 🤣🤣, not for nothing she lived so many like that 🤣, but you are right in what you say, every woman is different and therefore every process too, listening to our body and knowing it is the most important thing when it comes to finding ways to alleviate certain situations, donuts work for me and maybe an apple works for someone else, the most important thing is to do it according to our needs 💕.

Your grandmother sounds like she was quite the wise woman! 🍪😄 I remember my late grandma being a gem too. Truly irreplaceable.

You're absolutely right. It all comes down to listening to our own bodies and doing what feels right for us. I recall a friend who always suggested things that worked for her but were ineffective for me, particularly regarding my mental health.

If donuts are your stress relief, then by all means, savor those sweet, doughy treats! 🍩💕 I, for instance, love chocolate cake or brownies. But, I guess any food helps me relax. 😬
