WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH

If you've watched the legendary cartoon "THE LION KING" and followed it through and through, you will have a glimpse of what I'm about to share in this post. That cartoon was one I watched as a child, teenager, and adult. If I get the opportunity, I would still watch it again without thinking twice. I grew so attached to it that to date I can give a full recap of what happened, and even the songs that were sung at every point in time. I have talked about how I loved to fantasize about movies and write my own stories from them. The Lion King movie was one of the few I fantasized about the most. I have drawn a different script from that single movie, and I'm sure if I get the chance, I will do it all over again even now.

The saying "WHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH, THE TOUGH GET'S GOING" is one of the many lessons I drew from that movie. It was one that stock to date has been useful to me in so many ways. It was used in the part of the movie where Timon and Pumba found themselves in the middle of a war. Both are animals who were in the midst of war among predators while they were the prey. They needed motivation to keep going, and their normal Hakuna Matata (meaning don't worry) wasn't the best to hold on to. However, the context for which their phrase was used was a rather different one as their characters were mostly comic. It was the motivation they needed to run for their lives, and it was indeed a very funny scene if you got to watch it, you will agree.

But then again, the phraseWHEN THE GOING GETS TOUGH THE TOUGH GET GOING" is one that has toughened me up, giving me the motivational strength to move forward despite the challenges I find myself. I would say I have faced a little bit of fearsome challenges in my little time on Earth, and instead of looking for a way to escape which is normally easy, or backing down and running to my shell, I would find ways to phase through and come out stronger. I would tell myself that I am tough, and It will one day be a story I would tell. And if I am sincere, oftentimes I do not know how I get to overcome, I just look back only to discover I scaled through and that challenge has become a story.

This isn't me writing a motivational speech, I just know that there is a time in a man's life when it seems all is lost, it's called the all is lost moment in a story which is normally the climax of every good story and the point where the protagonist gets to face the greatest challenge head on, even when the odds aren't pleasant. I believe what has made great men who they are were the challenges they overcame and not the ones they avoided. Therefore even when moving forward gets tough, a man has just got to get tougher.
