THE BEST PART OF MY DAY

Before I talk about the best part of my day, let me use a moment to talk about the worst part of my day, especially my worst day in the week. The worst part of my day begins from Sunday night, the realization that Monday is just a few hours away is so disheartening. Sometimes I wish I could just skip Monday especially if I had a busy weekend. Before now I didn't really care what happened after my busy weekend because I wasn't doing a 9-5 job. Then all I had was a hive until I got a job and started remembering why I hated Mondays. As the course rep of my department then, I would talk with my lecturers to fix their timetable, and in all, I ensure two things happen; Monday is always a free day, and my department learns at most three times a week. The third day is not always a serious class, either circumstantial or a borrowed course, but it doesn't exceed two classes on the third day.

Now I'm out, I must say it's really different because school usually gives us a sense of direction in planning one's day, and school is so big that there's always something interesting every passing day. But work isn't so, you just see a set of people daily, and even for those who talk to a lot of people, only get to do so in one direction which is usually official, and there's a high probability of meeting some funny set of people whose mission is to frustrate you. Well, apart from Mondays I'm beginning to hate the mornings because I usually sleep late. I'm always trying to meet up with work and that alone is stressful. I would have loved to wake up much earlier than 6:00 am, but I sleep late and I'm often exhausted.

Waking exhausted is the major part of the day for me, reaching work, I sit in one spot for hours working, and can only leave when I need to use the restroom. Not that anyone is putting a gun to my head, but it is just how it is, and doing it continuously can be so boring. I try to lighten up my mood by chatting while working, especially in the neoxian City discord group where you can't go a day without seeing something that would brighten up your mood. If I'm not doing that, I'm playing soft music in the background at a moderately low volume. When I'm not doing that I'm chatting with some special friends on WhatsApp who always endeavor to disturb me. And when I'm not doing that, I'm watching a movie 😂. Yeah, I'm always on earphones, watching in a minimized background, and always have my fail-safe in handy because my boss tends to walk into my office unknowingly. The movie part is usually when I'm mentally stressed and I need a break, at that point even chatting and laughing become stressful

But then there's the best part of my day, which starts from 5:00 PM. I close from work and take a 20-minute stroll with my earphones on. It helps me relax somehow, except I'm not in the mood for a walk, I just board a cab straight home. Reaching home, I usually cook in the mornings, but my little sister has been around and has been happy to help in that area, so all I do is change, take up a movie, and watch while I eat in between. After the movie, I go outside my apartment to my favorite spot in the compound where the evening breeze blows my sorrows away. There I take time to write and engage on hive (which I'm currently doing now lol) and then comes my favorite part where I shut down mentally and have my quiet time. At this point I hate being disturbed, I just want to be left alone to my thoughts. (I'm usually not thinking lol) after that, I pray and sleep and the cycle continues.

THIS IS MY RESPONSE TO HIVE GHANA PROMPT FOR THE WEEK.

I also understand that feeling on Sunday night. That’s why it best to always do what we like but it not everyone that is blessed with their choice of job. We sometimes work where we don’t want because of the pay mostly, there’s nothing like being your own boss.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean. And I can also tell you how important it is to find ways to have fun and cherish life's little pleasures.

In my goals for 2024, I said that this year, I need to do activities that change, that get me out of my routine. It's all too easy to fall into a routine after studying.

So I've got some good advice for you: create personal rituals that help you maintain mental and emotional balance (walks, meditation, reading, sport, etc.).

Courage to you, and bravo for what you're already doing!
