The Narrow Umbrella | ZAPFIC50 MONDAY (2/19/24) | Prompt: grandfather

ZapFic50Mondays-Logo.png

For this week's ZAPFIC50 Monday Challenge, the prompt "grandfather" conjured up many images of a stately gentleman surrounded by his family, mostly grandchildren. The word also symbolizes someone aged and matured. This version is often applied to items that came before something new is introduced. A protection can be applied to the item due to its longstanding history. It is with version I structure my ZAPFIC50 Monday challenge in the format created by @felt-buzz that consists of exactly 50 words.

My story is below:

The Farm Bureau meeting spiraled until ranchers stormed out. Joshua stood silent, fuming.

"Why are you upset? Your land is protected," Arthur smiled.

Because I have a grandfather homestead doesn't mean I'm not outraged by the excessive restrictions adopted. New farmers will be unable to operate, thus choking their production.

A continuación mi historia.

Your zapfic is though-provoking and packs a punch! Really, farmers face many challenges and I wonder why we placed unnecessary restrictions in their way when the end products are for our benefits. Or maybe it's a way to encourage more production of processed foods. 😄 Very well-written! Take care and have a great day. !LADY

Restrictions come in various ways for a myriad of reasons. Old-fashioned farming is discouraged, while new innovations to feed the masses are heralded. I just don't think it's all about supply and demand.

I appreciate your lovely words for my flash fiction story and your support. Take care.
