SAVING "BELA"
Only record of its existence

Hello everybody!
This is a story that few people know, but it marked my childhood, I saved a dog that became part of the family. When I was around 12 years old, I went with some friends to play in the public square in the city center and I witnessed a horrible scene, several dogs were attacking a puppy, he was covered in blood and people just looked and did nothing.
I don't know what happened to my mind at the time, but in the innocence of the moment, I thought that if I were going to help the puppy, the dogs would run away, i jumped in front of the animal and tried to scare away the bigger ones with a sandal in my hand. In my imagination it would be a perfect rescue, but they bit me, I was really hurt at the time. Seeing a child in danger, i achieved mobilize people, i was saved and and save the puppy who became my pet and an important member of the family.
This rescue was painful, I was very injured and I even had to spend several days receiving an injection in my navel, to avoid any future health problems, as I was bitten by several dogs of street. "I don't remember the pain of the moment, but for a child it's almost the end of the world."

Despite all this problem, I was presented with my first pet, the happiness was incredible, because it was mine, I was the one who saved it. I got a puppy that in a short time it was gigantic, I thought it was a dog, but it turned out to be a female. She was all hurt and her hair was horrible, everyone said she was very ugly, I named her "BELA", because in my eyes she was beautiful.
Destiny is incredible, as the days went by she became more and more beautiful, even though she was a child i took care of her every day, she was treated with lots of love and affection and when she became an adult, she was considered one of the most beautiful animals in the city. "It was a very happy moment, every child deserves a pet"

I won't say it was a sad ending, as a dog's life is short, but after about 13 years she caught an illness and passed away. I cried horribly, it was one of the saddest days of my life. "I was ialready a adult and I was aware that it could happen at any moment, to this day I hold on to it as a painful memory, but it is part of the cycle of life."
This was the story of the rescue of my beautiful dog "BELA". "Man, I didn't think I'd be so sad and emotional to write a little about her."
NOTE: her name is in Portuguese, i don't want to send your name translated into another language... She was and is an important part of my life, it's the least I can do for her.

Bela is a beauty just like her name! You were very brave to defend her even at an early age, I'm sure she appreciated you til the very end.
Here's a little quote I used to hear a lot at my last job (we worked with pups all day every day) which your story reminded me of: "Dogs might be in just a small part of our lives, but to them, we are their whole life."
So as much as you were lucky to know her for those 13 years, I'm certain she was happy to have spent all her life by your side 😊
