La leyenda de los amantes del volcán (esp/eng)

Esta es mi entrada al Concurso de literatura creativa. Edición # 8, organizado por @gornat. Cabe aclarar que todo esto que escribo es mera fantasia.

Pedro y Grecia eran un matrimonio ejemplar, se conocieron muy jóvenes y desde que se vieron fue amor a primera vista. Anduvieron mucho tiempo y después se comprometieron, para luego casarse. Todos sus conocidos sabían que eran un matrimonio feliz.

Lamentablemente Grecia era estéril y no podían tener hijos, ya llevaban 10 años de matrimonio y habían intentado todos los métodos posibles. No deseaban adoptar, sino que querían intentar todo para que pueda concebir. Lo bueno es que Pedro jamás tuvo intención de dejarla por este inconveniente, sino que estaba igual de comprometido para poder tener este bebe anhelado.

Afortunadamente, ambos provenían de familias adineradas y el dinero nunca fue impedimento para nada. Así que constantemente viajaban a distintos ligares y pueblos con el fin de encontrar algo que los ayude, ya que la medicina tradicional no funcionaba. Así que, durante uno de estos viajes, fueron una isla remota. El lugar era hermoso, tenía un gran volcán, que estaba inactivo ya varias décadas y por lo tanto el lugar era bastante turístico. La pareja decidió ir a ese lugar debido a que habían escuchado el rumor que ahí había un hombre, el cual era capaz de curar todo, solo eran leyendas, pero la pareja estaba dispuesta a realizar cualquier cosa.

Los lugareños les decían que debían buscar en el bosque se encontraba al pie del volcán, que ese hombre tenía su hogar ahí. La pareja fue a buscar en este bosque al señor, en la isla era muy conocido aquel hombre, solo los de fuera de la isla pensaban que era una leyenda, pero los isleños sabían que era el doctor del bosque. El los reviso y determino que estaban con una maldición, alguien muy celoso les había hecho eso y por ese motivo no podían tener un bebé. Les hizo un ritual donde los purifico y los bendijo para que puedan tener lo que anhelan. A cambio les pidió mucho dinero y ellos le dieron.

Todo era felicidad, hasta que el volcán comenzó a erupcionar, todos salieron corriendo, la pareja huyó, pero el bosque entero estaba en llamas, incluso la casa del doctor del bosque se quemó. Del cielo caían cenizas y lava.
En medio de todo este evento, Grecia murió carbonizada, dejando a Pedro totalmente solo en ese bosque abrazador. El hombre se sentía acabado y destruido, ya no quería ni moverse, estaba solo y rodeado de fuego, y su esposa había muerto de una forma horrible, por lo que tomó su mano y no tenía deseos de vivir más.

El humo hizo que cayera desmayado y despertó en un hospital, Su esposa le agarraba la mano con lágrimas en los ojos. "Mi amor despertaste por fin" dijo ella.
Ahora se encontraban juntos de nuevo en otro mundo y hasta el fin de los días.

La leyenda de los amantes del volcán se esparció por todo el mundo, una pareja que murió quemada a orillas del volcán, pero por la lava sus cuerpos quedaron para posteridad agarrados de la mano.

Pedro and Grecia were an exemplary couple, they met very young and from the moment they saw each other it was love at first sight. They walked for a long time and then they got engaged, and then they got married. Everyone they knew knew that they were a happy marriage.

Unfortunately, Greece was sterile and they could not have children. They had already been married for 10 years and had tried every possible method. They didn't want to adopt, but rather they wanted to try everything so she could conceive. The good thing is that Pedro never had the intention of leaving her because of this inconvenience, but he was just as committed to being able to have this long-awaited baby.

Fortunately, they both came from wealthy families and money was never an impediment to anything. So they constantly traveled to different places and towns in order to find something to help them, since traditional medicine did not work. So, during one of these trips, they went to a remote island. The place was beautiful, it had a large volcano, which had been inactive for several decades and therefore the place was quite touristy. The couple decided to go to that place because they had heard a rumor that there was a man there who was capable of curing everything. They were just legends, but the couple was willing to do anything.

The locals told them that they should look in the forest at the foot of the volcano, that this man had his home there. The couple went to look for the man in this forest. That man was very well known on the island. Only those outside the island thought he was a legend, but the islanders knew that he was the doctor of the forest. He checked them and determined that they were under a curse, someone very jealous had done that to them and for that reason they could not have a baby. He performed a ritual on them where he purified and blessed them so that they could have what they longed for. In exchange he asked for a lot of money and they gave him.

Everything was happiness, until the volcano began to erupt, everyone ran out, the couple fled, but the entire forest was on fire, even the forest doctor's house burned down. Ashes and lava fell from the sky.
In the midst of all this event, Greece was charred to death, leaving Pedro totally alone in that embracing forest. The man felt finished and destroyed, he no longer wanted to move, he was alone and surrounded by fire, and his wife had died in a horrible way, so he took her hand and had no desire to live anymore.

The smoke caused him to faint and he woke up in a hospital, his wife holding his hand with tears in her eyes. "My love, you finally woke up," she said.
Now they were together again in another world and until the end of days.

The legend of the volcano lovers spread throughout the world, a couple who died burned on the banks of the volcano, but due to the lava their bodies remained for posterity holding hands.
