Medium, Large and Small Birds

Party with the birds that enjoy family groups or mingling with others on occasson, South Africa boasts an abundant bird life so here I have selected a few where they enjoying life together, exactly how we should too!

Bird life is diverse depending on season and region, much like the inhabitants of Africa, simple enjoyment through the lens.

African Pied Starling (Lamprotornis bicolor) with its warbling song arrived to greet us most days around lunch time, chatting away like no other, not shy to come up close.

Turn your back, indignation due to no handouts, Pied starling is 25cm bird is endemic to South Africa, Lesotho and Eswatini.

Starlings often look similar yet are not the same, close relatives, still happy together!

Red-winged Starling (Onychognathus morio) larger in size, red tip wings more visible in flight here a few together enjoying the lawns searching out insects for lunch possibly with tips of wings showing.

African Sacred Ibis (Threskiornis aethiopicus) with vivid black and white marking around 68-75 cm length, easily visible against contrast of greens, browns and blues in our landscape.

Same silhouette as their hadeda relatives, a lot quieter than them too!

Hadeda ibis (Bostrychia hagedash) is an ibis native to Sub-Saharan Africa. Inherited it's name from loud three to four note characteristic calls in flight, especially in the mornings and evenings when they fly out or return to their roost trees.

Bronze mannikin or bronze munia (Spermestes cucullata) is small 9-10 cm, crazy about feeding on wild grass seeds. Incessant nest builders that may raise up to four broods a year, depending on food available. Each party arrives with between 8 to 20 birds, only one will be dominant single adult male in the group!

What you say is very true, dear friend @joanstewart, people must learn a lot from animals, in this case from birds, and learn to live better in harmony and harmony with other people.
I admire the amount of birds you have there and that you can take photographs of them; you have a beautiful family album of bird shots

Have a wonderful day toi. It is #Featheredfriday, but I hardly will see any birds today. Waiting for a check at the cardiologist. Blood pressure is up again.

I do home checkup regularly, our doctors are so busy although Tuesday we go for examination to obtain next six months for prescribed medication, hope it all goes positive your side.

Hanging out the washing this morning the Woolly-necked storks circling above on currents, always delightful to watch them glide over the sky. Weather still making it's mind up with rain or shine.

Regular checkups are must. I am seeing the cardiologist once or twice per year.

Ah, it must be spectacular to watch them fly. I am looking forward to the spring and to see the birds coming back.

We have to go every six months, specialist checkups take more clearing through a GP before you are allowed to go. Medical insurance is totally messed up in this country it costs more than it's worth, another evil necessity without it you are doomed.

The Sacred Ibis looks beautiful, they must be very lovely to look at out there on the lawn.
Those 3 sterlings looking in the same direction have certainly got their attention attracted by the looks.

Starlings very social, chatty and at ease coming up close. Little cheeky sometimes would get onto the table if you left for a second and help themselves to whatever you were eating.
