Girls and boys in our country are under different kinds of stress, kidnap, rape, abuse, murder all ugly not able to escape. GBV (Gender Based Violence) is ever on the rise, I feel for the young as they cannot defend themselves.
Slow learners I have noticed tend to absorb a lot more understanding in what happens. Settling down making effort has paid off, having a granny who allowed you to read obviously felt there was more to this slow learning child than most could imagine.

I feel the government should focus more on the security of it's subjects as this is life threatening and prevents peace of mind, those who are victims when eventually free experience trauma that makes them scared and lack trust in people.
You are right even though it takes time before slow learner get things but when they eventually do it sticks more to their brain.
My granny was supportive though not educated but smart
Have walked with "eyes in the back of my head" for a long time, also always carry a good flick blade knife I will not be tormented by these people here.
Slow learners tend to take note of what is around them, more wary!
Streetwise does not need a degree, not in grannies time nor now.
It's good that you are being careful and trying to protect yourself.
