Pairing Up Season

Cuddle Up Being Social

Togetherness, two little birds sitting in the tree, free to move, free to love, hearts beat as one during the right season, plan continuation of species side by side.

Day of week matters not as we hear a song go and look, happily chirping from within a bush always time to get together.

Blacksmith Lapwing (Vanellus armatus) or Blacksmith Plover protecting together, somewhere within the sandy dunes with sparse grass or on sports fields, will find them fiercely protecting territory together.

IMG_3794.JPG

White-fronted Plover (Anarhynchus marginatus) with short, straight thick bill making identification, not sandpipers as this bird is commonly found on sandy beaches more often than the waters edge.

IMG_4341.JPG

Dark-capped Bulbuls (Pycnonotus tricolor) are monogamous, sleep together tucked head under their wings. Birds we see literally every day of the week, hear them chatting joyously to each other over the noise of vehicles, remember to never take what we have close to home for granted.

IMG_3677.JPG

The ring-necked dove (Streptopelia capicola) or half-collared dove, apparently these birds make a good age up to 37 years as recorded, another common bird seen in our garden. Here in the tree often seen on the ground.

IMG_3991.JPG

The red-winged starling (Onychognathus morio) resting up together, cannot see the head clearly so for identification purposes if you do see them the males have an all-black head, a females head is grey. Yes difference in visual sexes is apparent in many within the kingdom.

Some arrive together then stay forever, others migrate inland moving according to their desire, feathered friends may be seasonal, all are welcome. These photos were taken in our Spring we now entering Autumn in the Southern Hemisphere.

Tenacious in protecting and rearing the next generation, most do look after their young, not all...., much like humans I suppose!

Magic pics. Do you know them all or have to Google them?

Common names I know, scientific names refer to my books not that bloody clever, or a quick google search whichever I think of first.

Lovely photos of these 'love' birds Joan! The Swallows have moved on, but now a pair of black starlings are taking over the nest. They've been trying to dive-bomb it, broken up the tunnel, very aggro. Poe is scared of them!
How was the rain last night? It rained heavily here. We're suddenly having water and electricity issues!
Enjoy the rest of your weekend Joan.

All these pics taken around September, starlings are a menace sometimes I'm surprised they taking over the swallows nest. If nest is under eaves of the home I would chase them with a broom, not a bird I would want close onto a house.

Last bit of rain for a few days again, small possibility on Saturday night again, will be sure to arrive for Easter weekend 😅, almost a given....

Water and electrical issued have been ongoing for over two years these guys cannot get the parts, do proper repairs, such a pity education was not a priority over the last 30 years.

Have a great day, bright sunshine with a windy afternoon.

Hi Joan, the starlings are actually trying to break down the nest, it's in a protected corner at our front entrance. I chase them, but they keep on coming back,

I hope there's no damaging rain, my neighbour's smaller pool already is right to the top, that's how hard it rained here. Ours also filled up quite a bit.

Enjoy your weekend xxx

Only one or two options to try at end of this content How to..

We had lovely rain with no electricity go through, slightly cooler which is a bonus, as is a pool like yours being topped up.

Birds have to be selective to keep species going, sure they sit to check each other out quite a bit before mating season begins in earnest.

Lovely couples you have found. The doves have really an incredible long age. I did not know that.
Thank you, Joan for your wonderful post. 🙂

I found it interesting that doves enjoy age they attain, perhaps it is the slow attitude to life that gives them this ability.
