We harvest and we plant again

It's been more than a month that we weren't able to visit our garden in the home lot we are still paying for monthly. One afternoon, we decided to visit there to check our plants, we missed them and for sure they missed our presence too.

Our neighbor knew that we were going to our garden, he asked if we had bananas there. Yes we have! We answered. Can I ask for some banana leaves? He asked gain and we said off course, why not? So, he and his cute daughter went with us.

When we reached there, the first thing we noticed was the banana which is mature enough and in fact it has one ripe banana in it.

My husband carefully gets it and we are so grateful for having that harvest. It means we can eat another fruit from our garden.

My husband then cleaned the area beside our fence because the weeds are creeping going inside of our lot.

On the other hand our neighbor then started to get some banana leaves. He will use it for their little business. Along with him is his cute little daughter silently observing what he is doing.

These are some of the leaves he got and arranged it accordingly.

We then harvested all the cassava left for harvest. We harvested some of its batch last time we visited there.

We felt a little sad because the cassava gave a few crops but still we are grateful that we have some harvest. It is better than nothing.

Our son also participated in harvesting, he too gave his best to harvest some cassava and felt so happy when finally he did it.

Here are some of the cassava we harvested. We cooked two different recipes using it, puto and budbod (steamed cassava and cassava wrapped with banana leaves).

While we are busy doing our different tasks, this little girl is also busy roaming around without minding some weeds that are almost the same height as her.

She looks so cute, right? She also enjoyed being there as she have a lot of space to walk and run. She might thought she is in the grassy playground, lol.

The next thing I did is to clean our previously planted cassava. Someday, we will have another harvest from it.

My husband helped me unweed the cassava and later on he told me to leave that task for him and I should prepare cassava stalk for planting.

Here are some cassava stalk and my new assignment was to cut them long enough for planting.

My husband always give me a lighter task to do and off course I obeyed. I cut them into pieces. I enjoyed doing it too.

Here are the cassava stalk and these are ready for planting.

My husband cleaned the area where we harvested cassava so we can plant again. While he is weeding, I started planting cassava.

I make sure that I planted it in the upright position. When my husband was done, he also helped me planting the cassava and we're done earlier.

He then gather all the cassava we harvested and we prepare going home.

But before we leave the garden, I also checked our previously planted banana and I'm glad they are growing well.

The taros are growing good too.

Other group of cassava in the other side of the lot is growing well too. We hope that this batch will give us a plenty harvest someday.

This banana will be harvested in the next month and we will go back here for this again.

We say goodbye to our plants and we're happy to leave them clean.

By the way, these are our partners in gardening. Everytime we visit here, we always have them.

Plant, harvest, plant this is the cycle in gardening. We need to plant again as we harvest some crops so someday we will have something to harvest again and the cycle goes on.

This is my participation for The garden journal July challenge.

Thank you for reading and I hope you're happy with our garden. Keep safe everyone.

It always makes me smile when I see kids enjoying being outside and hanging out in their parents' garden.
Your garden is so different than ours and that's what I enjoy about this community, you get to see how and what people from all over the globe grow. Cassava, I don't think that I have ever eaten any of it. I looked it up and it can be used in many ways and it's very nutritious.
Bananas right off of the tree, it doesn't get any better than that.

We always have our son everytime we go to the garden. He always wants to help and he always want to plant too.

Cassava is not familiar for you, if barter if possible here I would gladly barter some beets from your garden hehehe.

I am also amazed on how you make your plot in your garden there.

Barter, I love doing just that. We trade goods with a few neighbors, trading maple syrup, beets, and other veggies for milk, eggs, hay, and other goods.

Little kids in the garden, are always a precious sight.

Harvestign banana and cassava - that is wonderful. That takes me back to visit to the Caribbean. It is good that visited to clean up and harvest. Those bananas could have become overripened or eaten by an animal.
The little girl is cute indeed. It is nice that her and your son are there to observe and enjoy nature.

Yes harvesting them is a blessing. If we visited there a days or week late for sure the bats will have feast on the banana.

Yes the kids enjoyed being in the garden. Thanks for your time @momogrow

How long does it takes for bananas to ripe?

I bet the taste is heavenly good 😍 waaaay better than ones I'm buying in markets.
Happy harvesting!

Bananas will be riped naturally after one week, lesser or more depending on its maturity.

Some people used something to fastened the ripening of banana but it's taste is far different from those who ripened naturally. We just let our banana ripened naturally and yes the taste is far better than those being sold in the market.

Thanks for your time @alt3r. Happy gardening.

Here in my country we call Cassava "Yucca", it is a nutritious and delicious root, it can also be consumed as snacks, you are very fortunate to be able to harvest it.

Yes, we need to introduce gardening to kids as early as possible in their childhood days. Gardening is something that everyone should know.

Thanks for stopping by.
