I saw that there is a contest held by Rada Quest. Glad that it last 2 weeks, I got some time to finish the artwork.

I was looking at the 👉game cards👈 and how are the art was made.
I imagined that all artworks have some fantasy vibe. And so, I made my own artwork base on fantasy characters or creatures. I come up with some goblin, but not just ordinary goblin. He is the emperor and ready to join the battle at the Colosseum holding his great sword.

Without further ado, join me walk through the process of creation and hope you have fun as the art progress from the start to finish.

Digital Art Process

As always, I started with a sketch for the pose and composition of the character. 🙂 Rough sketch is where I explore the character's facial expression and vibe.

In the next image, I do the polish line art. I'm happy with that 😁 alright unto the next step let's go!

In here, I do a grayscale method. It's like shading your sketch to add some depth to it.

The next image, I added the base color. 😁 I did that by adding a layer on top of the grayscale and set to multiply. To lighten it up add a layer, set to overlay and fill in a color light yellow orange.

I immediately start to render the face of the character then down to the body, clothes and sword. I love grin in his face. It's like c'mon wanna piece of me heh!😈

The next image is I want to add some chalice in his hand.

Lastly, I add the background and finished the illustration. I also put it in a card border to make it stylish hahaha see image below.👇

I'm happy with the result.😌 And I think this is a perfect fit for a card illustration. I might as well apply this to method / process to my art style. While exploring different art styles I can now adjust to what I feel fit most to the art. I am seeing my improvements each art I make😁
