Culinary Experience at Marikena Resto - Authentic Local Restaurant with Delicious Traditional Dishes

Perfect morning (2).jpg

Hello everyone,
How are you all? I hope you are well and happy. It's been a long time since yesterday's post that I haven't said hello, but today I'm here for you and telling stories as usual.

This afternoon is very busy with a work schedule, usually from the morning I have started arranging the schedule and sending several online packages from e-commerce, but today is so different, because today I will help my wife to install curtains at one of her friend's houses who will be moving and it will be a very long journey.

This morning, leaving home and heading to the textile market which is the largest in North Sumatra to buy curtain iron and measure it correctly, it took hours and finished before 01.00pm, leaving the textile market we headed to our destination. The place we were going to was a bit far from the city, in a different sub-district but it could still take 1 hour, because in the middle of the journey our stomachs felt hungry, so we stopped at a simple traditional restaurant which was quite famous.

It wasn't intentional, because this restaurant was in the middle of our trip and we took the time to enjoy lunch there. Marikena is very famous throughout the city of Medan for serving incredibly delicious typical Karo food, besides that, this is a typical Karo restaurant that is guaranteed to be halal.

Indeed, basically almost all typical Karo food is made from pork and chicken blood, this is very difficult for all Muslims to accept because it is not in accordance with the Shari'a, but believe me, at Marikena Restaurant, you can enjoy typical Karo food without fear and anxiety. about that. 100% Halal and guaranteed to be very delicious, this is a hidden gem that cannot be missed.

Marikena has been around for a long time, on one of the streets full of other typical Karo food restaurants, but believe me, even though it looks very simple from the outside, this restaurant is never empty of visitors. Many people are even willing to queue to get the food they want.

There are many types of dishes sold, you can dine in or take away, but recommendation if you have time, eating dine in is better for the experience. Like the two of us, we took a little time to eat here, and this was the first time my wife had experienced eating at Marikena, because I had been here several times and we didn't get food.

Everything was sold out and we were late arriving to enjoy this typical Karo food. My wife really likes typical Karo food, because her mother is a Karo descendant who is good at cooking. So, he missed his mother's cooking, luckily this time we weren't disappointed.

We chose to eat 2 types of side dishes, namely chicken liver chili sauce and stir-fried chicken. The side dishes here are quite large portions, in fact they should be able to be eaten by 2 people, but my wife needs a lot of protein because today she has to get enough protein from food, even if she has to eat at a restaurant.

We chose chicken breast with wings, it was quite big and tasted very good. I thought this was stir-fried chicken that wasn't cooked with added oil, because it was like just boiled with some spices using a secret recipe. Eaten with cassava leaves topped with coconut milk and rich in spices like curry, this is an experience that I rarely get.

Apart from stir-fried chicken, there are several other foods being sold, such as fried fish heads, thick omelettes filled with vegetables, crispy chicken and many more. If you like typical Karo food, you can try it here. It tastes super delicious and you will be addicted, although we were a little shocked by the price when paying. For everything we ordered, our total purchases reached 100,000 rupiah or 7 dollars for two people, however, you can't get a special taste like here.
