Tomsk motives | CCC's Street Art Contest # 181

Hello, friends!
Today I want to bring to your attention the mural “Tomsk Motifs” on a retaining wall in the city of Tomsk.

The mural is located on a brick wall at the foot of Resurrection Mountain, at the beginning of the oldest street in the city of Tomsk, Bakunin Street. Significant scenes for Tomsk are depicted on the wall and the words of the French philosopher Paul Ricoeur are given; “Any tradition lives by interpretation.” The author of the mural is artist Misha Musk from St. Petersburg.

Resurrection Mountain is the place where in 1604 the Cossacks under the command of Gavril Pisemsky built a fortress that marked the beginning of the history of the city of Tomsk.
You can climb Resurrection Mountain along an ancient cobblestone road.

Currently, at the proposed site of the construction of the first fortress, there is a museum of the history of the city of Tomsk. Climbing up to the “fire tower” in the museum, you can admire the historical center of the city from above.

For the 400th anniversary of the city, a wall and a fragment of an ancient fortress, similar to those built by the Cossacks in the 17th century in Siberia, were built on Voskresenskaya Hill.

Not far from the founding site of the city of Tomsk, along Bakunin Street, many houses from the 19th century have been preserved. Wooden houses decorated with carvings are especially interesting.
