Summer veranda of the Solnechny Kamen restaurant | Reflection Hunters Contest ~ Round 158

Hello, friends.
Today for Reflection Hunters Contest ~ Round 158 I want to present a photo of the summer veranda of the Kaliningrad restaurant “Sun stone”.

The restaurant itself is located in the premises of the Rossgarten Gate, built in the mid-19th century according to the design of engineer Hauptmann and director of fortress construction Irfugelbrecht and engineer lieutenant von Heil. This fortification was supposed to protect the city of Königsberg from the north.

In the 19th century, the city Königsberg ended at this place. In the place where the summer veranda of the restaurant is now located, a drawbridge was previously thrown from the gate across the fortress moat. The road from the bridge led to the city of Kranz, now Zelenogradsk, it passed through horse meadows, from which the gate got its name - Ross Gärter translated from German means horse gardens. On both sides of the gate there were fortress walls, partially preserved to this day.

The Rossgarten Gate formed a single fortification and architectural ensemble with the Dota Tower located nearby. Currently, the Dota Tower houses the Amber Museum. Well, the restaurant, located in the Rossgarten Gate, got its name precisely in honor of amber - the sun stone.
