High Bridge Keeper's House | PhotoFeed Contest - Cityscape Photography Round 68

Hello, friends.
For Cityscape Photography Round 68 by @photofeed I chose a photograph of winter Kaliningrad that I took from the bridge over the Pregolya River. In the foreground is the bridge keeper's house.

The caretaker's house was built in 1899 according to the design of the city building inspector of Worms. The building housed a hydraulic accumulator, designed to create uniform pressure when raising and lowering the bridge during the passage of ships up the Pregolya River. Also in the house were installed high-pressure pumps and gas and electric motors to drive them. Instead of regular water, a mixture of one part glycerin and two parts water was used to create pressure.

The house is located on the bank of the Pregolya River, next to the High Bridge; the bridge received its name “High” due to the fact that it is the very last city bridge upstream of the Pregolya River. The first “High” bridge on this site was built in 1520, but then it was completely rebuilt several times. In 1938, the old High Bridge was dismantled due to its disrepair. A new bridge, with a drawbar in the middle for the passage of ships, was built just upstream.

There is currently no need to install instruments in the High Bridge Keeper's House. Now the building houses a museum of old postcards.

The first photo is submitted for participation in PhotoFeed Contest - Cityscape Photography Round 68 by @photofeed
