Dwellings of mountain spirits | PhotoFeed Contest - Landscape Photography Round 70

Hello, friends.
I live in Khakassia and here, along with Orthodoxy and Islam, there is shamanism. Indigenous people believe that all the elements of nature are controlled by different spirits. When the ancestors of the present-day Khakass were baptized, they accepted baptism with pleasure, but did not stop worshiping spirits in the same way. When the priests tried to explain to them that it was impossible to believe in both Christ and all kinds of spirits at the same time, the local residents sincerely did not understand them. According to the indigenous residents of Khakassia, the more supernatural beings that patronize you, the better for you. And this faith was carried by the Khakass through the centuries.

Last summer, during a trip to Khakassia, we decided to stretch our legs, stopped at a mountain range and climbed to the first peak.

At the top of the mountain we were greeted by small structures made of stones.

According to the Khakassians, spirits live everywhere - in rivers and lakes, on the mountains and in the steppe, dark spirits live in the lower world - underground. The surrounding nature and spirits must be treated with reverence and respect. The most revered spirits are mountain ones. According to legend, in ancient times one man married the daughter of a mountain spirit, and from this marriage the Khakass people arose. To earn the favor of mountain spirits, on the tops of mountains people build pyramids of stones - according to legend, a mountain spirit will live in such a stone pyramid.
