Gain knowledge & experience from contest

Life is not different from a race. And the race starts from the time when we were born. In most cases, our parents are the ones who start to compare us with other kids and an invisible competition starts from that time. There exists no evil intention of parents but every parent wants their kid to be better than others. This is the start of the race and after growing a little bit we can see it in the academic institutions. Parents insist us to be the number 1 student in the school and the mentality of competition given to our minds. We continue the race till the end of our life.

The result of the competition changes with time. Firstly study, then earn, then wealth and after that, a new cycle of race starts again how our parents started the thing with us. Although those things are also one kind of contest but we don't love to see those things as a contest otherwise it hurts us to think that all our life we are wasting to compete with each other and I am not reminding more about it but it's the truth.

In the past times, contests used to occur offline only but now the situation has changed and we are living in a developed world and now in most cases, we can see online contests compared to offline contests. It's because technology has developed a lot and it helps us to make things easier online rather than doing it offline. But still, many offline or physical contests exist in the current time and I think it's also good because too much dependency on online is not good from the perspective of a healthy lifestyle. Today I am going to share about a contest where I participated offline, which means I was physically active there.

It was the time of 8 months ago when a science fair contest occurred. Fortunately, the location of the sensor was at my University and I think we are lucky in this case. Almost every well-known University student joined the contest and if I can remember correctly then 652 teams participated in the contest. More than 50 teams were from my University and the remaining of the team came from different universities. It was the biggest team contest I participated in as a team. From our department, my teacher told me that from the science fair contest, I would get the opportunity to learn many things and I should join and create a team for it. As a class leader creating a team with interested ones was very easy for me and there were 7 members in my team including me.

The first thing we started to think about was what kind of projects we should present for the contest. Various kinds of ideas came to our mind but at last, all of us agreed to present an eco-friendly environment for the contest and we started creating an eco-friendly model. We took some instructions from teachers and using the cork sheet we made a model and added the required design and color to give it a realistic look. In the current time, we can't expect an eco-friendly environment without mills, factories, industries, and vehicles which pollute the environment. So we presented how to release the waste from industries & factories in an eco-friendly way and we tried to show that if we want, we can make an eco-friendly environment in the current time also. All of my teammates gave equal effort to make the model. My team ranking was 29 in the contest and we were not the winner but we made the 29th position among 650+ teams who came from the top universities of our country which is not bad either.

From the contest, I was able to know various kinds of innovative ideas and thoughts of different teams and I was impressed by some projects. I admit that some of their project was so good that those kind of ideas never came to my mind. The contest gave me a lot of lessons. Besides it allowed me to meet with many new people from different universities and make some new friends because the science fair was for 3 days. It was a great experience for me and I feel good to participate as a team in that contest.

It's nice to learn from the contests. Competition, if taken positive and for a learning purpose is awesome.

Did you just say 29th out of over 650+? Whoa! That's really good if you ask me and it's a first time experience too for most of you if not all. Your project was a nice one and seeing that is one to help our globe makes it even more remarkable.

Having over 650+ University students present in one place, it is just the right opportunity to meet different people and I'm happy you could meet new people and make new friends.

That's the reason I said that I was satisfied with my team ranking and winning the prize doesn't matter because I have learned a lot of things from the contest. Moreover, I got the opportunity to be friends with other university students and it's a very good thing for networking.

Yeah, in the end your team might have even gained more from that competition than most of the other teams that scored higher.

Knowledge is always valuable, keep growing on what you learned

As a person, we acquire not mostly in school, but in experience which we can apply in daily life situation.

I think in school we learn mostly from knowledge of books and we gain experience from our daily life and all the experiences can be different based on how we apply our knowledge.
Indeed writing contests help us to develop our skills.

Engaging in physical contests has a lot of advantages; making one meets new people, gaining experiences and learning something in return is what makes it fun. You know, different people will participate and understanding things from their perspectives is what makes the contest interesting.

Challenges like contests can be a great learning experience indeed because they require us to use not only our brains but also creativity, resourcefulness, teamwork etc. It's good that you participated, learned, and even ranked at least in the top among 650+ teams

I don't think too much about the position we gained because most of the team brought creative and innovative ideas and those things gave a good knowledge and that's the achievement of the contest.
