Chinese Fan Mushroom

1 IMG_4647 copy.jpg

Schizophyllum commune, this type of mushroom I chose for contribution to today's #FungiFriday, hosted by @ewkaw. This mushroom thrives in clusters on dead tree trunks and has the distinctive trait of splitting its gills.

The existence of this mushroom almost escaped my sight because it was next to a cotton tree that was bearing fruit. Yes! At first glance, it looks like cotton plus a pile of used white nets belonging to local farmers.

This is part of one of the Wikipedia sources mentioned above: the characteristics of this mushroom "resembles undulating waves of tightly packed corals or loose Chinese fan", and "this mushroom is found throughout the world", including in our area in Lhokseumawe, Indonesia.

The weariness of the mushroom hunt has paid off. Thank you for your support. May nature always present various other beauties and uniqueness related to the world of mushrooms.
