Hello Hivers! We have been working in the background to figure out the best way to move forward with the Hivelist project. In short, we have decided to put more focus into the on-chain aspects of the project versus the more centralized part (Hivelist.store). We are wanting to put more focus into the classifieds and advertising as well as the NFT Marketplace to give more use to our native LIST token! With this we are going to be getting back to some solid activity on this account as far as post curation, sharing, and promoting great content by burning LIST tokens! It's time for some revitalization!

What is Hivelist?

For those that may be new here, Hivelist was started right after the fork from Steem to create a marketplace of sorts for the community. The plan is to create a parallel economy that utilizes blockchain and crypto payments that are outside of the traditional system.

The idea then bloomed from just a classifieds platform into a full on e-commerce marketplace which included the Hivelist.store that allows people to set up their own retail store to sell products and receive HBD as payment. It allows customers to pay in HBD as well as other major cryptos like BTC, ETH, LTC, DOGE, and USDC.

Later on we expanded our Hive front end with our own NFT marketplace that utilized the platform's LIST token as the means of payment and a swap pool to exchange LIST with SWAP.HIVE.

The classifieds part of the project was the main original intent, which is to give Hivers a place to buy, sell, trade, or advertise things like services, contests, events, and fundraisers. Think Craigslist, but for the Hive blockchain! We have several tags that when used will index your post on our platform in the correct category. So if you are selling a product and use the 'forsale' tag, then it will show up under our For Sale category for people to be able to browse and find your products. We have several others that are used for different purposes, but due to lack of use, or confusion of the tag's meaning, we are changing some of them up.

Hivelist Tag Changes

Below are a list of tag changes that we are making to our platform and the reasons behind the changes. We will be putting out more information as the week progresses. We will also be posting these changes and the links for the template posts on the LIST token page of the main website. These changes are coming Monday, July 31!

EDIT- We were unable to use hyphens in the tags as we originally posted. We made the changes to reflect the new tags.

Services -> ForHire

The first tag to change this week will be the 'Services' tag. If you look on the LIST Token page you will see that our Services category is meant for advertising a service that you offer. The problem is that people use that tag for other purposes on Hive, so the posts that get indexed have nothing to do with offering a service. We will be changing this tag to 'forhire' which makes it easier for people to understand what is being offered in the post. This is telling people that you have a service and you are 'For Hire'!

Gigs -> NowHiring

The next tag that is being changed is the 'gigs' tag for much of the same reason. It is one of the most underused tags because people just don't use it for the correct purpose. This tag was supposed to be used for people that are looking to hire someone for a job, or simply available jobs. This tag will change from 'gigs' to 'nowhiring'! So for those people that are looking for talented people to work for them, use the 'now-hiring' tag on your post and let people know you are looking to hire!

Contests -> Contest

For the 'contests' tag, we are just going to simply remove the 's' from the tag that is used to index to our platform. It seems to be the more appropriate tag for contests on the Hive blockchain. This is coming from feedback from several community members, so we listened!

Events -> Event

For much of the same reasons for removing the 's' from the previous tag, we are doing the same for the 'events' tag. This one of the lesser used tags so removing the the plurality of the word, we are hoping to stay consistent with the other tags.

That's all for the tag changes, now let's look at what we are bringing along with them!

New Post Templates are Coming!

With these changes, we got the idea to also create templates for all of the Hivelist tags so that we can give users a good direction on how to create a post to advertise on Hivelist. We have created templates using markdown language that you can easily copy and paste into your post and fill in the appropriate information! This should help users create professional looking advertisements that they can post on our classifieds to help drive more commerce on our little blockchain while keeping some consistency across the platform!

So this week, be looking out for posts that will contain the new templates as well as an overall explanation of the corresponding tag. This way we can all benefit from building a new parallel economy that we can use to get outside of the traditional system, which is a complete headache for many around the world! This is the only way we will win this battle of control, is to stop using their systems and create our own! That is why we created Hivelist!

So let's evolve together and hopefully these changes don't cause too big of a negative stir in the community as we are doing this to try and better utilize our little platform for everyone!

Until next time...

Keep calm and Hive on!

So what sort of tags should we use for normal business related posts?

Lists or list or just hivelist

It’s best to use the HiveHustlers or hustler tag for that as that is what that community is all about. We are really wanting to make Hivelist a place for commerce which is what it really has always been for.

When these tag changes take place?
or they co-exist for some days?

Tags will get changed later on today. There isn’t any relevant posts that will be effected at least at last check. There will be no co-existing because we have a limit on how many tags we can use.

Edit, there may be some contests posts, but if people are paying attention, then they will edit the posts. But in all actuality, that tag gets abused a lot.

I voted but failed to leave a comment.

I wholeheartedly believe in this project, it's just a shame too many people post stuff that has nothing to do with selling.

I agree, it's mostly a lot of people that want to token farm using tags. It's been a battle since day one, lol. We are going to be making a push to being more active, so hopefully we can steer it into the right direction.
