BeerSaturday 326 - Petite Bourgogne (Brasseur de Montréal)
Here's my entry for the BeerSaturday 326 with an Irish red ale, Little Burgundy brewed by Brasseur de Montreal, which, as its name suggests, is located on the island of Montreal. The fine weather is still lingering over Quebec in late September and early October, perfect for sharing a little beer with friends.
Here is the map of Quebec where I can show you precisely the location of the brewery. This week we're staying in Montreal with Brasseur de Montreal, which has been headquartered in Griffintown in an old bus garage since 2008.
📜 Brewery / Brasserie :
Brasseur de Montreal is now part of the Molson galaxy, the oldest brewer in North America (founded by John Molson in 1786). The microbrewery began operations in Griffintown in 2008 thanks to Marc-André Gauvreau and Denise Mérineau. Above all, they wanted to create beers that were easy to drink: "Almost all microbreweries target the strong, bitter beer market. We want to bridge the gap between fans of commercial beers (Budweiser, Molson, etc.) and microbrewery beers" Marc-André Gauvreau (source: LaPresse.ca, only in French). In 2016. Molson buys a share of the company to improve access to the Canadian microbrewery market.
Petite Bourgogne is a 5% alcohol Irish red ale produced with Cascades hops. In the glass, it has a dark amber color with no cloudiness, which is normal since this beer is filtered. It gives off a fine head that quickly disappears. On the palate, there's a light caramel taste with low bitterness (only IBU 25)... I find it a little lacking in character. As this is the house philosophy, it's quite normal. I should have asked before buying it. At least this beer is easy to drink.
Design
The brewery's visual identity was revamped in 2020 to emphasize its Montreal identity. Thus, this red ale previously known as Loxley has been renamed Petite Bourgogne, Montreal's southwestern district. The design is very geometric, with each piece of information in its own box, along with an emblematic monument of the neighborhood, in this case the Édifice Georges-Vanier. And to make it easy to choose, the color of the beer is printed on the can, making it easy to choose. On the other hand, I'm not a fan, it lacks a bit of originality or craziness, too wise 😀.
Have a great week. / Très bonne semaine à tous.

It is good that you went for Beer this time
Nice one!
Good beer, perhaps a little too "wise", without character...
Have a great day
"too wise" maybe to corporate 🤔
Exactly but that's the type of beer the founders were looking for.
Enjoy your day

Toujours aussi apprécié 🙏
Always a shame when the beer doesn’t hit the spot but you’ve got to keep on trying new ales. Maybe the next one will be more to your taste. Nonetheless a solid review 👍
Yep, I didn't know about this microbrewery and the concept behind it: creating beers between the commercial and the microbrewery. Good beer but without character for my taste.
Cheers 🍺
