Introduction

Many in today's world love taking alcohol. Some can't even stay long without alcohol. Some people said that men loves taking alcohol more than women, but that haven't been verified yet. The origin of alcohol can be trace back in the early days. Earlier before 7000 to 6600 BCE. How Alcohol came to be is what I can't tell, but in all Alcohol plays an important role in my cultures today.

Alcohol should be taken from the age of 18+ according to Breweries. It also should be taken with caution but unfortunately many today abuse it. Some even brag of how many bottles of alcohol they can consume in an instance.
This has result in many acting in an inappropriate way while at the time taken the lives of many.
According to world health organization alcohol kills more than three million people around the world every year and this is as a result of abuse of alcohol.Reference
There are three types of alcohol, they are;

  • Methanol
  • Ethanol
  • Isopropyl

In this post we will be discussing Ethanol which is the type of alcohol found in beverages and the only alcohol intended for consumption. I will be explaining some uses of alcohol in some culture and also the negative effect of alcohol. So please, stick with me as I explain the above.

What is Ethanol

Ethanol is a colorless and clear liquid, that is slightly sweet in taste.
This liquid produced by the fermentation of sugar in yeast or by chemical synthesis. Ethanol is the only type of alcohol that is intended to be consume by humans.

The use of Alcohol in Traditional /White Wedding

Long before this present generation alcohol have been use for traditional wedding. Honestly, traditional wedding is not complete without the use of alcohol. Here in my country the Igbo tribe usually use Beer for traditional wedding. It adds to the taste of the weeding. Even before the wedding, during the time of paying the bride price, there is always a list of things a man should do before taking a woman as his wife. In that list there are a lot of things the man will do but most of the items there are more of drinks which includes Beers and other beverages.

Now let's talk a little about the day of the traditional wedding. How do alcohol come in again and what purpose does it serve. The Igbo culture is unique when it comes to marriage. After the bride price has been paid, in the day if the wedding the bride is expected to Carry around a cup fill will Alcohol in search of her husband. Many men will try to take the drink but she will refuse them knowing that the drink is only meant to be given to her husband. On finding her husband, the man will take the drink from her and after drinking will put some money in the cup and he and the woman who is now her wife will go to their parents to receive some blessings.

While the marriage is going on people who attend the weeding will be serve with beer and other kind of alcohol. Is not a must to take alcohol on that day. Many do reject alcohol and go for other soft drinks.

Coming to white wedding alcohol also serve a unique purpose.
After the couples are joined together in the religion congregation or court, most couples do arrange for a wedding reception. Most people also use alcohol to attend to their invitees in the reception.
If you have ever been in a Nigeria wedding you will understand what I'm saying.

People's Culture different from the other, so their use of alcohol also differ. But in all Alcohol always has a role to play in most culture.

Other Times to Enjoy Beer

Apart from using beer for merriment it can also be taken at free time. I'm not the beer type but I enjoy taking it while relaxing at home. Beer can be enjoy with edible like fish and meet.

Here in my country people love going to beer parlor every Saturday even or Sunday to have their beer. This is because they see so many people have fun there, so I think that adds taste to the 🍻 beer 😃.

Negative Effect of Alcohol

Just as alcohol can serve many purpose it also have it negative effect.

Excessive consuming of alcohol can result in so many health issues like Liver diseases, mental health issues, and accident. It can also have a negative impact on once working pattern and attitude.
Why taking alcohol it is recommended not to abuse it by taking too much of it.

This is #BeerSaturday week and I would like to invite @sammyhive to write a post in any language about beer with at least 3 pictures.

This is my participation in the Aprilinleo. I will like to invite @pearlie123 to come check the monthly Inleo prompt and to participate.

This is actually educative, we all have the freedom to make our choice when it comes to taking alcohol, I respect people's decision when it comes to that.

Cheers! Well, here it is consumed daily :) Different styles.
