LOH #183; MY UNCLE'S WEDDING πŸ’

Hello hivers...

Last week was a really hectic and wonderful week at the same time for me it was the week of my uncle's wedding ceremony that is from my mother's side, a lot to happened and I am grateful but it went well and it was successful at the end. I was really surprised to see the topic for this week contest by the #ladiesofhive community allowing members to speak of the pictures they have recently taken and narrate the story behind it I believe I have a lot to share concerning the wedding that happened and with all my family members present.

What was the last photo you took? Share it with us and tell the story

As it is the marriage tradition and custom in Nigeria especially amongst the yorubas, the ceremony is divided into four different parts, we have the introduction, the registry, the engagement, the church/ white wedding and the Thanksgiving on Sunday. The first part and the second part are not necessary to be attended by families if they are far from the location, it only requires family representatives from both sides to witness the whole thing. The introduction was done when the groom (my uncle) went to the Bride's House to declare his intention of marriage to their daughter, and the family agreed and blessed the marriage. After this they went to the registry to register their marriage in court.

Other families who were far in wide came for the traditional engagement and the church wedding. The wedding took place in sapele delta state my mother and I arrived at the location on Wednesday evening but the other family members from Lagos, Benin, Ondo state, Akure and Ibadan all came on thursday. It was not an easy tree at all considering the fact that the roads in Nigeria are so bad that the portals would make you have body pains and headaches at the end of the day. But in all were grateful for journey mercies and safe arrival as the location. We all count in my uncle's house as a family.

Fast forward to the traditional engagement it was a really hectic day because we expected the ceremony to start by 10:00 a.m. but unfortunately due to delays and expectations of someone prominent guests we had to start by 3:00 p.m. in the evening, many people were already exhausted from waiting but in all we had to wait and celebrate with our brother and uncle since that was the reason why we were there. The ceremony began with the and with the introduction of the families from both the groom side and the bride's side. After this the payment of the bride price commenced in this situation the family questions the groom if he is ready to take care of they are daughter by caring for her being kind to her and not maltreating her and also they would receive some items which includes a bag of rice, kola nuts, honey, red oil, groundnut oil, travelling box, clothes, yams and so on. After this we had food drinks and water and Merry merry merry.

When this part of the traditional engagement was done, we were left with the white/ church wedding which took place in a cherubim and seraphim church. It was an amazing experience getting to church the groom was dressed handsome lady in yellow jacket and black choices with his best man in sync while the bride came in a long white flowing gown with her makeup done. The family was were dressed in white attires the men were agbada while the women wore to buba and wrapper or gown. There were lots of prayers said for the couples during the church service and the pastor also advised them in a sermon on how to leave their lives by loving and caring for each other we have having to listen to outside parties on how to go about their businesses.

After the church wedding we all went to the reception which took place in an event center it was beautiful well decorated and amazing. I had fun because the DJ was amazing with the love songs he played. It was a colorful event and we are glad that it was successful at the end with no drama no fight no argument and stuff but everything was done with love and unity.
