Entry "TREES" - POBphotocontest

(Edited)

Greetings, from my little corner of the world!

It is #pobphotocontest time again!

I often take photos of trees, but find that I end up not liking most of them, as they can end up looking boring if they are too pretty (just my humble little opinion) if they are too pretty.
These rather gloomy looking trees are my attempt at something more interesting than the trees I usually see around here. (I do appreciate being surrounded by all this natural beauty, don't get me wrong. But it doesn't always line up with my vibe.)

So, before I ramble on for too long...here's my entry for 'TREES'

Monotone of dead tree found on Hunter's Rest hiking trail - Camera: Nikon D5000 - Experimenting with landscape setting - B&W filter with minor adjustments

The area was beautiful and perfect for taking photos of trees, and I was able to add quite a few tree photos to my archive. These were my favourites. Hopefully the next batch will be better.

Well that's it for now!
Till next time!

Hehe,,, your 'popphotocontest' typo made me think of the band 'Pop Will Eat Itself' for some reason!

I dunno what it is about trees without leaves but I like taking (and seeing) photos of them. I think that growing up in Florida where the trees did not lose their leaves during the winter... then later moving further north where they do lose their leaves... made quite the impression on me.

😅...typo, even after having read through and edited... so spaced out lately. Thanks for pointing that out. Didn't know that band. Listening now, pretty damn fun. So thanks for that, I'm pretty obsessed with music, especially finding new stuff. Day made! 😀

Hah, that's pretty cool, can't imagine the trees not losing their leaves during winter, would mess with my mind! It must have felt pretty strange moving from a place like that.

Yeah, those pesky typos! I find them all the time in my long-winded entries even after multiple times of proofreading them. I try not to mention them in other folks stuff but was thinking about how you previously mentioned being spaced out and thought to help a bit.

I am very happy that you like that band. I enjoyed their stuff a lot when I was in my twenties then kind of forgot about them until last year. Also I am stoked to have made your day! 🤠

It was incredibly weird my first few years living further north. I kept thinking how everything looked so dead. It took me several years but I eventually grew to love the winters and the way everything looked so different during them.

Yes, they're sneaky little buggers! Starting to think you should charge me for all the help on here.😅 Really do appreciate it.

Think I'll keep listening to their stuff, definitely adds some fun to an already weird and random playlist. (Maybe that typo was worth it, after all 🤣 )

I can imagine! Adjusting to a completely new place is always pretty weird. Dead and cold can be beautiful in a way though, especially if there's snow (just guessing... have never seen real snow)

Your words are payment enough! I enjoy the interactions.

Haha yeah they are 'fun' as you put it. Almost like an early version of Die Antwoord before they got kind of sucky.

It was wild not really seeing snow until well into my twenties! It was such an alien landscape!

A while back I had almost two hundred weird mixtapes that I made up on Mixcloud that had been there so long that their new rules did not apply... where you can only have a few listed tracks. A few months ago I was tidying up my page on there and clicked the wrong button and they poofed. I was so frigging disappointed.

I was going to start uploading some spoken word but after the 'poofing' incident I gave up!
The ones that remained also got split into two locations!

Some of these places where I had them (and others) backed up still work but a few do not:

Download Music:
Dreamsteria 2015 Tracks On Gdrive: https://goo.gl/K445Ve
Cyber Cypher 2015 Tracks On Gdrive: http://goo.gl/OkuDvj
Dreaming World 2014 Tracks on Gdrive: http://goo.gl/0zq4Md

EDIT: I removed the ones that need permissions to access. Enjoy!

Same here! It is quite nice! 😁

Oh wow, I had almost forgotten about Die Antwoord, back when they were a big thing I didn't really listen to anything except for Metal. How times change...

Sounds like you're still way ahead of me, at least you got to see some snow before thirty, I missed that bus by a little bit.

Sorry that you lost your music! That's always crappy.

THANK YOU!!!! Thank you! So excited now! Day made. Twice! 🥳 Seriously pretty damn happy right now.

Yay to a twice made day! Yup times sure do change!

Oh I did not lose it. I still have them all somewhere. I just lost the ability to point people to that page for my 'favorite' ones. I also cannot upload my newer ones to there like I used to.

Although I make fewer of them these days I still make them each year so that I have 'new' stuff to listen to. Back when I ran a coffee bar at a festival each year I would blast them for around seven to eleven days straight at high volume... but the last time that I did that was a decade ago.

I was never so pretentious as to call myself a 'DJ' or anything... but I sure loved playing music for large (or small) groups of people.

Nowadays, I just enjoy listening to them by myself while I am working outdoors or need to drown out fireworks and gunshots during the holidays to keep the dogs from freaking out.

Occasionally I tinker with the idea of doing the coffee bar thing again after I am fifty but honestly I like my hermit life too much to change my ways.

Glad you are happy!

@hellsveiah this was the last year before I finished the roof on it. I probably have better pictures somewhere but hopefully you get the idea. 🤠

Coffee and lots of music? Sounds like my kind of place 😁

Sharing music is always fun. (though my playlists tend to confuse and/or scare the few people I know) I usually find that just listening by yourself tends to be more satisfying, especially if you are in the habit of singing (and dancing) along at times. But maybe that's just me.

It looks awesome, I can imagine you had lots of great times (and probably interesting stories) there! 😀 I why you wouldn't want to give up that lifestyle, but it would be pretty cool to give the coffee bar another go. Nice to have the option either way.

Yup lots of super strong coffee and a wide variety of music!

Ha! I bet mine scares and/or confuses folks too! Some of that of course is by design especially once I got into putting a lot of samples in it and got into mashups.

I tend to just bob my head a lot (and do some air guitar) but there was a time that I enjoyed dancing along as well. Listening to it by myself is assuredly my preference since there is no anxiety involved that way.

Oh the stories! There are many but I generally let others tell them. It was an adults only event... so to say that things got 'spicy' and 'interesting' would be an understatement!

When I was younger I attended most parties like anyone else would but that did not last long and I quickly found myself taking on responsibilities to help others have the kind of experiences that had helped me grow as a person.

It was really weird for me (with that particular festival) because most of the events, parties and festivals that I attended I either worked the door (I was even a doorman at a bar/art gallery for five years) or I worked the gate or did security. So when I did the coffee bar I really cut loose given how different the role was.

I could write a novel (or many) on why I changed that aspect of my life but it essentially came down to wanting to focus on my homesteading goals more. I used to answer the question of why I changed course as: I always felt that I was driving in the right direction... but I was unfortunately driving in the wrong lane.

Haha well let them be confused and scared if they can't handle it! 🤣

Yeah can understand that, I won't sing or dance around other people at all. Too awkward. (Unless I've had too much whiskey, but that almost never happens anymore)

Someday, when I'm not half asleep... I'm going to ask about those stories!
It sounds like you've had a pretty interesting life so far, tried and seen many things, would love to do any kind of job in or around an art gallery.

That's a pretty cool way of thinking about things. I don't believe in stuff and things or anything like that, but I do feel like somehow all the changes we make and wherever we end up is where we need to be to get where we are going, so there's that!
If that even makes sense, I should probably consider shutting up and trying to do the sleep thing somehow.😅
