🕺 Welcome to the Scholar and Scribe Invitational 🕺

The Invitational is our bi-weekly, super-duper, writing contest. It is where we match quills and draw blood all for the sake of the craft. We all know a 'friendly' competition never hurts anyone, much, especially when it can be used as a platform to improve your writing. 🙌

🧐 Rules of Engagement 🧐

  • Entries must adhere to the genre AND thematic prompt;
  • Entries must be between 800 and 1500 words.
    Note: this does not include any intro/footer text.
  • You must post your entry in Scholar and Scribe and use the #scholarandscribe tag;
  • Deadline for submission is Sunday, 19th of November (23.59, GMT + 01);
  • All languages are welcome but MUST include an English translation;
  • Link your entry in the comment section below; ⏬

The winners will be announced in two weeks. Winners of what? An astute question. The prizes are as follows:

🥇 Gold: 50 SCHOLAR, 3 SCRIBE, 2 HSBI, 300 Ecency points
🥈 Silver: 40 SCHOLAR, 2 SCRIBE, 1 HSBI, 200 Ecency points
🥉 Bronze: 30 SCHOLAR, 1 SCRIBE, 100 Ecency points
🎖️ Runner(s) Up: 15 SCHOLAR

The 🥇 Gold winner will have the opportunity to be a third judge on the next Invitational. 😮

IN ADDITION- Each participant will get a modest review of their work from the modding team. With the additional opportunity of getting an in-depth critical review if they so choose. 🙂

🤺 Genre and Theme 🤺

The story you submit MUST adhere to the following prompts:

🎥 Genre: ACTION
🤹 Theme: FAMILY

We are shifting gears this time around. We got sufficiently spooked in October, now I want my blood boiling and pumping. 😤 As for the theme, there are many different types of families in the world - found families, mafia families, etc. Just make sure to put an emphasis on the familial aspect. 🙂

Thank you so much for the prize - it's really unexpected, so many of the entries were just so amazing 😀

I'd be honoured to be on the panel of judges for the next one. I'll probably still write an entry anyway, but just for the fun of it (and maybe for the benefit of a critique, to see if I've learned the lessons from the last one !). It wouldn't be fair to be both a judge and an entrant !

Also, I want to say a huge Thank You to @killerwot, for introducing me to the S&S Invitational, it's a brilliant way to stretch myself 🙂

As a judge myself, I won't consider it as eligible for any prizes, but it was a story that's being trying to fight it's way out of my head for a little while.

Hopefully I've got the right balance of build-up and action, and (admittedly in the context of my setting) I think I've managed to sneak four different types of family reference into it 😁
