Paul was desperate. He wanted money. He was fidgeting around when his wife suggested that they watch a movie together. She switched on the television set and they began to watch the movie about some theatre artists who were desperate for money and decided to kidnap a rich kid. The movie was a comedy and they enjoyed it but while watching the movie, Paul looked at his wife and told her his idea.

They roped in a few friends with a similar mindset and all was set. They travelled along the roads of the town and enquired about the new house. The locals did not suspect a thing. They noticed the small children walking alone to the next street after school to attend tuition classes. The next day, they came in a car and tried to kidnap the children. The boy tried to beat them with a stick but they grabbed the girl and raced off in the car. The boy informed the grandparents and then the police.
The whole state was alerted. Social media shares and CCTV footage were broadcast on every station. The criminals knew they would be caught. Meanwhile, a ransom amount was asked but an intense search by the police forced them to leave the child unhurt in an empty ground. She was later returned to her parents.

The gang is still around and several other kidnapping attempts have been made.

"We shouldn't have done this, I am scared," Paul's wife stuttered as they drove through the woods heading to their safe house where they could hide for a while.

"Everything is going to be fine Maggie, I promise you we will be fine. We just have to stay off the police radar for now while we prepare for another catch, just one ransom can set us up for life. I need you to trust me," Paul replied and held Maggie's head.

"We almost got everything perfectly before those cops showed up and we have to be extra careful now," Jubril one of the gang members interfered in the couple's discussion and everyone went quiet after.

Different ideas kept coming to Paul as they sped past the tall trees and they arrived at an old cabin that had been repaired by Paul and the gang before they went fully operational with the kidnapping plans.

"What's the way forward, we have to act very quickly. I am sure our faces are out there everywhere," Jubril broke the silence in the Cabin after they settled in.

"I have a lot in mind now but we have to stay here for a few days so that things can cool off," Paul replied.

Everyone sighed heavily and they all knew that there was real trouble awaiting them outside the woods.

Outside the woods, the police and different agencies are combing every corner of the city.

"A CCTV picked a footage of Paul and the gang at a gas station but they sighted it and broke the camera. We can't tell where they are headed," Detective Rick briefed the entire team on the progress they made with the search.

"They can't be far away, we just need to check further," John, the head of the investigation department advised at the end of the team briefing.

Every effort to find Paul and his gang was futile and the police were already thinking they might have left the city.

At the press briefing two days later, John shared an update about the search and told the public to assist with any information they had.

Immediately after the press briefing, John and the team gathered to discuss the way forward. Later that evening, a couple came to complain about a missing vehicle. It was parked in a factory very close to where Paul requested that the ransom be brought and the information seemed like a lead.

"Someone broke into the place because the padlocks gate locks were broken and the vehicle was gone too," The wife of the vehicle owner explained.

"Is there anything we can use to track the vehicle?" John asked the couple.

"Yes, the vehicle was used for delivery service before it was parked and we haven't deactivated the tracker," the husband replied.

"Perfect, please take the tracker monitor and scan for the vehicle immediately," John instructed a junior detective who swung into action immediately.

"I think we have something on the vehicle sir," the officer told John.

"Send it to the big screen," John instructed and they saw the vehicle where it was parked outside an old cabin deep in the heart of the woods.

"That's our vehicle," the couple chorused.

"It's the same vehicle that was captured at the gas station where the gang was spotted in the CCTV footage," Rick said to John.

"Inform the police department about the lead and I want all teams out immediately. Rick, I want your eyes fixed on that screen and always update me on every development," John gave the order and joined the vehicle that was waiting outside the FBI building.

The police and different security agencies joined the FBI team. The press joined and there was a helicopter giving updates from the sky.

Paul was busy strategizing with the team for their next move when he heard the police siren. The sound was faint and he wasn't very sure so he rushed out to see what was happening outside.

The siren noise drew closer and Paul knew that the police were on them already.

"Guys, we need to head out immediately. They know we are here," Paul screamed.

"But how?" Maggie asked but no one responded.

They quickly picked a few things and ran into the woods immediately.

"All units be informed that the suspects are absconding into the woods already," Rick gave the update and the security agencies made a new plan.

The agencies spread out into the woods and while Maggie was running, she stopped.

"I don't want to do this Paul, I don't want to run for the rest of my life. This was a bad idea initially," She told Paul.

"I am sorry that I dragged you into this mess but now is not the time, we will rot in jail," Paul replied.

"Don't we deserve it?" Maggie asked.

"Common, we have to go. We can't get caught now," Paul persuaded Maggie but she was done running.

Paul eventually left Maggie who was screaming for the cops to know where she was and it wasn't long before they got to her.

"I am sorry," She pleaded and wept bitterly as the police handcuffed her.

Maggie gave the police every information they needed and it wasn't long before every member of the gang was apprehended. On their way back to the station, Maggie passed out in the police van and she was rushed immediately to the hospital where they discovered that she was a few weeks pregnant.

The news came as a shock to her and she wept bitterly.

"Imagine raising this child and someone suddenly kidnaps him or her, would that make you happy?" John asked Maggie immediately after she was discharged.

The gang were charged to court and sentenced to prison. Maggie was separated from her child after delivery and she felt the pain of every parent whose child happened to be their victim.
