SMASh 317 - Show Me A Shadow Contest Round 317 - A Bird's Nest Fern, Anyone?

This plant is one of my wife's restoration projects. It is actually a fern and it is called the Bird's Nest Fern. It is named as such because the center of the plant resembles a bird's nest. It is also sometimes called the Crow's Nest Fern. My wife bought a bunch of these a few months ago from a plant vendor outside one of the malls of our city. It really is a sturdy plant but it didn't thrive in our garden because there aren't that much shaded areas in it. We have 3 temple trees in our garden but they do not give that much shade as the trees do not have thick foliage. My wife relocated them to a more shady location but some, like this one, did not quite make it and look limp and a bit withered.

I was looking at this plant one morning when I realized that my wife placed it on a plastic stand that had slats at the top. I began to wonder what the shadows would look like if I positioned it where the sun was shining. Here's what I got.

Cool huh? Ever wondered how this plant looks like healthy? I took a photo of one that made it through the relocation . I guess this is what the end result my wife is hoping for with the restoration project.
