SMAP CONTEST 132 - Life In The Concrete Jungle

Hello Feathered Friends Community. It's Round 132 of the SMAP or Show Me A Picture Contest hosted by @nelinoeva. Please read up about this if you still don't know about it here. You're all invited to join this fun-filled and challenging contest.

This week's theme is:

FREE THEME

I really can't recall when I took these photos but it must have been quite some time already. They were in the middle part of my archive so it must be over a year. I was in the parking lot of my office one morning. It rained the previous night and the lot was not yet fully dried up. There was a pool of water in one part of the area and I noticed a pigeon suddenly land on the water. I took out my cellphone and started taking photos of it, thinking I might need them for a future theme in SMAP. Here's the first photo I was able to take.

And the second.

I suddenly realized it was thirsty. I began to wonder how far did this pigeon fly just to look for water. It's a good thing it rained the night before. There must be a lot of pools of water all over the city. But what if it did not? There are times we don't get rain for a week. Where does this pigeon go to look for water?

Life could be hard for these creatures. But I guess they're used to it, having been hatched and grown in the concrete jungle. But that's what I love about them too. You never hear them complain lol. I went in closer in an attempt to take a close up but it must have heard me and immediately flew away. But I was ready for one last shot.

Gotcha. The last photo is also my entry to this Round.

And that's all folks. Hope you enjoyed my short encounter with a feathered friend although I wished he could have stayed a bit for a pictorial. Maybe another time. A big good luck to all the participants. Please stay safe and may you all have a blessed weekend.

Aww, such a nice encounter. I can tell you that our pigeons know every fountain in the town and thanks god there are plenty. We usually have dry summer and birds probably learn well how to find water.
