A Quest To Getting Cheaper Deals

avatar

In the quest to get better deals on the purchase of my family's monthly provisions, I came to discover one particular provision store at a nearby market that had been offering me lower prices for the past few months compared to other stores around.

I came to learn about this store when the price of my baby's diapers suddenly went up. But his price was still 100 naira lower on each pack. According to my findings, he bought his stocks in a very large quantity. It will take a little bit more time before the constant rise in inflation catches up with him. When other shops' prices go up, he usually could still sell much less.

For this reason, since I got to know about his store, it has been my go-to in shopping for our provisions. Who doesn't like cheaper deals lol 😆 and oh, I always check to make sure his products are still within the expiring date and are in good condition.

But something happened last week, I visited his store like I usually do and he wasn't available as the store was still under lock, probably he was running late that morning. I was not happy about this but was left with no choice but to look for the baby diapers I needed to buy in other stores around.

After checking about two shops I refused to patronize them due to their high price. When I got to the third shop I was so surprised that he had much lower prices for his products, such as beverages, baby diapers, body lotions, soaps and more, than even my favorite store where I have been shopping for more than three months.😫 hmmm why haven't I discovered this shop all this while? Probably I was too comfortable with what I had been getting in my favorite store or the owner was just great at his customer relationship that I stopped bothering to look for a better deal.

This taught me that due to the continuous rise in the price of commodities, one shouldn't limit his or her shopping to a particular seller because as things are changing by the day buying from sellers with old stocks could offer way cheaper deals. That is one way to handle this crazy increase in the prices of goods and services. I regret that I did not explore the market more and found those with older stocks and quality products that are still within the expiring date.

Due to this experience, I will be spending more time on my next visit to the market, hunting down such sellers. I will no longer limit my shopping to just one particular? shop for a long period so that I can always get cheaper deals as much as possible. Who knows what I might discover next.

As country dey hard so😆, one has to be up and doing in making smart buying decisions lol like my Mom will always say, every little discount matters a lot . so, why buy high, when I can always buy at a lower price?

This is my entry into this week's Hive Naija weekly community contest

We earn through hard work in different ways through different organizations or jobs. Realizing that hard work gets listed towards our expense. Because people need many necessary things, among which this cost is one. When we go to buy any thing, sometimes we don't like it even after buying it, which we often realize why we feel like we would have bought that thing instead of buying it. My respect and love to you and your family always.

Every little discount matters alot. Your mum is right and I too usually hunt for cheaper products as well. The same experience you explained Here once happened to me, since then, I have been exploring more in search of a better offer. For example, rose tissue pack in 6 has been selling for #800 around me and I kept patronising my customer and others until the man's shop got locked last week, nne, I explored and to my greatest chargrin, I bought the same tissue for #650 ...wow...I was greedy to buy more packs, same to dangote sugar..all with good deals in a store that still have old stock. That's the way to manage this inflation in prices otherwise surviving this economy remains a hassle.

Chai from 800 down to 650, you can imagine.

One just has to keep searching for shops/stores with better deals, the economy is not smiling at all but God will continue to provide while we try to manage our resources as much as we can.

Yes, you are right. Every little discount matters a lot especially in this world economy inflation we are in. Many people are so dependent on a store, even though they are treated nicely instead of exploring other places that offers less prices of goods. Even if I discover such a place, I won't lose guard oo.. lol. We are in Nigeria and those little changes we get is important to us.
