RE: My thoughts after the contest is over

You are viewing a single comment's thread:

Trying to reply to the general direction of your thoughts:

include more real interaction tools implemented on the platform itself

I'd say we should try develop better interfaces to make it easier to connect Hive to outside services that offer things like video streaming or voice call.
These technologies change, and it's impossible to keep up, if we try integrating everything.
I mean: We shouldn't compete with youtube as a video-platform. They are too good at it. We should rather embrace it and see how we can make best use of it, instead.

Your perspective is also good, I can understand why a platform can't be everythings that its users would want it to be , it would become a hot mess everyday as every person wants something different. I was daydreaming and thinking more about my user experience rather than the platform trying to compete with someone from the outside. For sure I would find fun to be able to create my chat rooms or my video calls with my favourite users around here. It is a cool dream though, isn't it?:)

I was under the impression you were just brainstorming and exploring ideas, and I only tried to pitch my idea against it. I did not consider how my comment would come across, or that it would cause you to go on the defensive. That wasn't my intention.
If I had thought your ideas were bad or without any value, I wouldn't have voted or replied in the first place.

Hive is a purpose-built blockchain and very good (the best) at some clearly defined things. That's why it feels so lightweight and fast and can compete with 'normal' content networks, that aren't decentralized, or on blockchain. Some things it can never provide or be good at: voice chat, video call, etc... Most of these things can and should only be integrated as a 'second layer'. It's the price of using this tech.

I would recommend you gave peakd.com a look. It is a frontend for Hive. I think it is better than hive.blog, which only features the bare minimum. For example: peakd has live text chat.

I am trying to provide constructive, helpful feedback. If you don't want that, I will move on.

Your impression was right: I was just daydreaming and exploring ideas. It is a trait of my personality🙂

I have not checked peakd yet but the live chat sounds good.

I suppose that most users prefer a one-in-all-if-possible, but that is without the knowledge of what would that mean. For sure platforms evolve and change and I hope to stick around here long enough to see how everyhing grows from one year to another.
Thank you for taking the time to explain to me more details about Hive as a blockchain🤗
