Ladies of Hive Community Contest #166: What I am doing

There is this funny saying that we all love talking about, "Na person wey chop bellyful dey save", another one is "Money wey I keep for rainy days don finish even before the rainy days" In essence what the masses are saying is that the economy is becoming too hard for anyone to keep a certain amount of money away for savings. Well, that is true though but I think that is not attributed to everyone, especially someone like me.

Last year, I crossed most lines but at the same time, I think there were wrong choices air wrong decisions I made that kept me in a spot for too long. Well, I can not tell how far I would have gone if I had made different choices or made different decisions but one thing I am sure of is that particular decisions I made kept me going back and forth throughout the years and that isn't what I intend for myself this year.

What would you do differently or start doing for yourself next year?

One thing I am sure of doing this year and I am being intentional about is setting aside a little money daily from whatever income I have for a period of three months, then six months, and then move to a year.

I was in the bad habit of spending all the income that came in and never saving anything, and this led to me ending last year without even a dim set aside for rainy days like they always say, this made me financially broke this kept me needing and at the rear end hit to the wall and hands tied when I am in a difficult situation, so this year, I am intentional about having savings daily or maybe weekly depending how much money comes into my pocket.

So, as the year began, I made a plan to save money bit by bit and to achieve that, I decided to download a savings app called Piggyvest, create my account, and start saving. It's not been easy but I am doing fine now, but if I get tired at some point, I will let you all know about it.

I am starting with one hundred naira daily, and then maybe if I have other sources of making money which I plan to do, as the days or months go by, I would increase my daily or weekly savings depending on what I am making.

So, yeah, that's what I would be doing differently for myself this year and I hope I pull through.
