HOW I BECAME A MASKLOPHOBIA

The most shocking experience I had when I was growing up, I came from a village that does a masquerade festival every year, it is not just a mere masquerade, it is a masquerade with charms where a masquerade can disappear into your house without knowing how he enters, hmmm my village is one of the scary villages in my local government when it comes to masquerade period, we have the friendly masquerade and we also have the one that women will not come out to see for seven days, no women must come out within that period until that particular masquerade period is over.

Masquerade season does fall between October to December when they will round it up during the Christmas season, some are fun why some are scary and some can cause an everlasting scar for you when they whip you with their nonstretchy long cane.

What I experienced as a child
It was December period and we all traveled as a family back to the village to celebrate the Christmas season with our grandparents, I was still a little child, I was between the ages of 12 when all this experience happened and it was so terrifying that I couldn't close my eyes for days and if I do, I will scream out of my dream.

My grandparents' house was a story building in the village, anytime we visit the village, we make use of the upper part of the house, our grandparents are on the first floor because of their age, they can not climb stairs frequently, so they stay in the down part.

On this particular day, my uncle went out to get us something, so when he was coming he was chased by a masquerade he was almost close to the house so he ran inside the house and we quickly jammed the door, we were all with our grandparents in their apartment so it was so easy for us to closed the door, my uncle was panting and we the kids ran to meet our parents, suddenly this masquerade disappears into our living room and it was like hell to me, my grandparents just told us to enter inside the room because they already know what was going on, my life was skipped for a while, I couldn't believe my sight that a masquerade can disappear to someone's house.

If all this doesn't happen in my present I will argue with anyone that it is not possible, but I saw this with my eyes, not my imagination, I was scared that I couldn't sleep for days the look of the masquerade was scary that made me pee in my pant, for some days I had nightmares about it, I will always scream out of my sleep and we couldn't wait for Christmas day again.

My nightmare happened for days and my father decided that we leave the village and return to the city, I couldn't believe my eyes that this could happen, it was so shocking that someone could disappear into your house, I only saw it in movies but it was real that day.

I wouldn't believe too oo because I only see this disappearing stuff in movies. I haven't experienced it in real life and if I do, then I don't know what could happen then but the most terrifying one I had some years ago was seeing a ghost in real life in my village.

My late Grandma told me they come out every afternoon to enjoy themselves too. This was something I couldn't believe but the experience made me believe, moreso, there is a grave yard very close to our house which is meant for both the Christian and Muslim.

I heard about the ghost from a friend she said they do come to the market to buy things, I didn't believe her not until another woman confirmed that she was not lying when I told her what my friend said.

Things are happening in this world

They will even collect your phone from you and you will be smiling at them

First off, Masklophobia? Is that a real word? Well, I guess I'll check it out. I've also had an ugly experience with masquerades oo.

Africans and festivals are 5 and 6. That day, we were celebrating a festival. I don't remember the details. I remember how my parents warned us not to step out. But that day, my unles had a different plan. They went outside to trouble the masquerades. The first masquerade they troubled chased them back home. Just like you guys did, we had to lock the door because after my uncles entered.

Wow! The Masquerade disappeared? Wow! I would've fainted if I was there.

This was indeed very traumatizing... But what was the reason for the masquerade appearing...

He was chasing my Uncle because my uncle's was making jest of the masquerade when he went out, and also my uncle didn't believe in it because that was the first time he was visiting the village, he is from my mother's side
