Всем привет!	Hello everyone!
Белоснежная колокольня Николаевского собора посреди водной глади – эффектная и печальная визитная карточка города Калязин. Ради развития промышленности и электрификации при строительстве Угличской ГЭС в 1939-1940 годах была затоплена центральная часть Калязина.	The snow-white bell tower of St. Nicholas Cathedral in the middle of the water surface is a spectacular and sad calling card of the city of Kalyazin. For the sake of industrial development and electrification, during the construction of the Uglich hydroelectric station in 1939-1940, the central part of Kalyazin was flooded.
Дома и монастырь перед затоплением были взорваны и разобраны. Кирпич увозили на строительство Угличской ГЭС. Точно неизвестно, почему оставили колокольню. Наиболее вероятная версия, что на изгибе реки требовался маяк.	The houses and the monastery were blown up and dismantled before the flooding. The bricks were taken away for the construction of the Uglich hydroelectric power station. It is not known exactly why the bell tower was left. The most likely version is that a lighthouse was needed at the bend of the river.

Эти фотографии я сделала 19 августа. С этой точки на набережной Калязина наиболее близко видно колокольню.

I took these photos on August 19th. From this point on the Kalyazin embankment you can most closely see the bell tower.

Здесь расположены причалы для лодок и небольших катеров. Колокольня в прошлом году отреставрирована. К ней можно подплыть на этих катерах. К сожалению, у нас не было времени. На большом кораблике у нас была прогулка, но мы проплывали мимо колокольни примерно на таком же расстоянии, как от этого берега.

There are berths for boats here. The bell tower was restored last year. You can sail to it on these boats. Unfortunately, we didn't have time. We had a walk on a large boat, but we sailed past the bell tower at about the same distance as from this shore.
