| В июне 2019 я побывала в круизе по Оке. Спасо-Преображенский монастырь неожиданно стал для меня источником материала для конкурса о птицах. В небольшом зверинце там были представлены большей частью различные птицы. В основном это разные породы домашних птиц. | In June 2019 I went on a cruise on the Oka. The Spaso-Preobrazhensky Monastery unexpectedly became a source of material for me for a competition about birds. The small menagerie there represented mostly various birds. These are mainly different breeds of poultry. |
| Там я увидела здоровенных бронзовых индюков. | There I saw huge bronze turkeys. |
| На будке с персональной надписью восседал крупный, но, наверное, ещё молодой самец. У него есть характерные наросты на коже головы, но, кажется, у взрослых они бывают побольше. | A large, but probably still young male was sitting on a booth with a personal inscription. He has characteristic growths on his scalp, but adults seem to have larger ones. |
| Индюк на крыше будки, не слезая с неё, занялся своими перьями. | The turkey on the roof of the booth, without getting off it, busied himself with his feathers. |

| Я сейчас прочла описание породы. Этот красавчик имеет слишком много белых перьев. | I just read the description of the breed. This beauty has too many white feathers. |

| А вот вторая птица, которую я определила как самочку, соответствует описанию: красивое тёмное оперение с бронзовым отливом. | But the second bird, which I identified as a female, matches the description: beautiful dark plumage with a bronze tint. |

| В этом же вольере с индюками соседствовали красивые чёрные куры, порода которых не была подписана. | In the same enclosure, the turkeys were coexisted with beautiful black chickens, the breed of which was not indicated. |

| Индюки – это птицы американского континента. Их приручили и разводили ещё индейцы. Позже эти крупные птицы были завезены и в Европу. Одна из удачных пород для сельского хозяйства – широкогрудые бронзовые индюки. Своих огромных размеров они достигают очень быстро и не особо привередливы в уходе. | Turkeys are the birds of the American continent. They were domesticated and bred by the Indians. Later, these large birds were brought to Europe. One of the successful breeds for agriculture is the broad-breasted bronze turkey. They reach their enormous size very quickly and are not particularly picky about caring for them. |
| Я – городской житель, домашних птиц я вижу очень редко. Поэтому с большим интересом рассматривала кур и индюков в монастырском зверинце. | I am a city dweller; I see poultry very rarely. Therefore, I looked with great interest at the chickens and turkeys in the monastery menagerie. |
| Всё время, пока я ходила вдоль вольеров туда и обратно, большой бронзовый индюк сидел на крыше будки. Вход в неё почему-то был загорожен ящиком. Возможно, он ждал, когда откроют. | The whole time I was walking back and forth along the enclosures, a large bronze turkey was sitting on the roof of the booth. For some reason the entrance to it was blocked by a box. Perhaps he was waiting for it to open. |
