Team Real Food// LOH #236

I’ve never really had to battle with deciding the kind of food I like. I’ll forever be on the team healthy food , you know, meals that have all the right nutrients in the right portions. Eating out or having so much junk food has never really been my thing. I thnak my mom for that. She always made sure we had home-cooked meals, and over time, I just picked up the habit. I got so used to having food at home that buying snacks or fast food became more of a once-in-a-while thing than a being regular degular.

Now that she’s older, you'll always finding her saying: “Add less oil to your meals,” “Eat more veggies,” “Cut down on the sugar.” Other times she just says, “Eat healthier now, you’ll understand better when you get to my age.” Honestly, I agree with her. What we eat plays a big role in how healthy we are, whether it's for the better or worse.

There was a time I just didn’t care. I was eating anything and everything as long as it was edible. I thought it wouldn't matter so much so I didn't worry so much about it. Of course, every decision comes with a price and that was how I gained so much unhealthy weight. I’ve always had acne-prone skin, but my poor eating habits made it ten times worse. All that oily face had a bad touch on my face and my battle with controlling my acne was not only expensive but also frustrating.

That season taught me a tough lesson, but a needed one. Since then, I’ve made a conscious effort to eat better, and I’ve lost all that extra weight. The difference is clear, not just in how I look, but in how I feel. I’m lighter, more energetic, and generally in a better mood to get through my daily tasks.

Now let’s be real, I still get the urge to eat junk, especially around that time of the month or when I’m too tired to cook a proper meal. It happens. I’m not about to pretend I don’t enjoy a nice, guilty snack moment. But I’ve learned not to go overboard. I don’t deprive myself, but I also don’t let cravings drive me. Eating clean is a choice, one that requires effort. It’s not always convenient to cook up a meal from scratch, but the aftermath of junk food just isn’t worth it most times. I feel bloated, sluggish, and kind of regretful. So yeah, I’d rather deal with the inconvenience of cooking than the consequences of going wild on processed stuff.

I've made it a habit to always cook my meals and take out for lunch while at work. Because first off, eating out is expensive and it doesn't always give the nourishment my body deserves. Now, I've fallen in love with cooking and making my own meals. No matter how hungry I may seem to be, I always want to cook something with my own hands. Something healthy too. Junks may vome in once in a while but they don't replace real food for me.

Without a doubt, eating healthy, homemade food will always be the best option for our health and body. I'm glad you've overcome that stage of eating anything and everything and now have a good balance with your meals. Thanks for participating. Best regards.

Now that I am no longer working I have time, junk is out. I have no excuse taking shortcuts and have the time to make careful choices and prepare home cooked meals for my sons. Before, I had little time and energy, and I set a poor example to my kids. It's different now.
