DIY Cat Contest: Cats with glasses on wood [Versión En-Es]
Hey everyone in the hive, this is my entry to the contest created by the @diyhub community about cats, since August 8th is the international day of these naughty pussycats.
Cats are animals with a great capacity to conquer the heart of any human being. Anyone who has a cat at home knows that a tender look, a touch on its paw or a few "sweet" scratches are enough to win all our admiration haha
Many times they do funny things that we keep remembering all the time. At home we had one called Morry and he stayed still if we put glasses on him 😎. Although he is no longer with us, the DIY that I am going to show you next, I did it in his honor.
Hola a todos en la colmena, ésta es mi entrada al concurso creado por la comunidad @diyhub sobre los gatos, por ser el 8 de agosto el día internacional de éstos traviesos mininos.
Los gatos son animales con una gran capacidad para conquistar el corazón de cualquier ser humano. Cualquiera que tenga un gato en casa sabe que una mirada tierna, un roce en su pata o unos "dulces" rasguños son suficientes para conquistar toda nuestra admiración jaja
Muchas veces hacen cosas divertidas que seguimos recordando todo el tiempo. En casa teníamos uno que se llamaba Morry y se quedaba quieto si le poníamos gafas 😎. Aunque ya no está con nosotros, el bricolaje que a continuación voy a mostrarles, lo hice en su honor.
In the last few days I have been working with wood, there are always good scraps to do small projects and take advantage of recycling ♻️
As the main image shows, I made a cat pedant with glasses to hang around my neck to remember my cat Morry.
The first step I did was mark the sketch of a cat on the wood, I measured 6 centimeters long by 3.5 centimeters wide.
En los últimos días he estado trabajando con madera, siempre quedan buenos recortes para hacer pequeños proyectos y aprovechar de reciclar ♻️
Cómo muestra la imagen principal, hice un pedante de gato con gafas para colgarlo en mi cuello y así recordar a mi gato Morry.
El primer paso que hice fue marcar en la madera el boceto de un gato, medí 6 centímetros de largo por 3.5 centímetros de ancho.
The next step was to outline the entire edge of the sketch with the chisel, and then begin to sculpt the design. Since I did not have a small saw, I had to remove a large part of the bark with different sculpting instruments.
El siguiente paso fue remarcar todo el borde del boceto con el formón, para luego empezar a esculpir el diseño. Como no contaba con una sierra pequeña tuve que ir retirando gran parte de la corteza con distintos instrumentos para esculpir.
With the help of the dremel and the sandpaper, the shape of the kitty was already clearer, it is actually a job that requires patience because many times we want to skip a step and end up damaging the work. Remember, patience when carving wood.
Con la ayuda del dremel y la lija ya la forma del minino se veía más clara, en realidad es un trabajo que requiere paciencia porque muchas veces queremos saltar un paso y terminamos dañando el trabajo. Recuerde, paciencia a la hora de esculpir madera.
I made the glasses and the nose of the cat with other pieces of wood, giving them shapes with the same work tools. Already in this step I used acrylic paint to make our feline look more picturesque and fun.
Las gafas y la nariz del gato las hice con otros recortes de madera, dándoles formas con los mismo instrumento de trabajo. Ya en este paso utilicé pintura acrílicas para que nuestro felino se vea más pintoresco y divertido.
Finishing it off, I put a snakeskin collar on the cat with various jewelry accessories and fixed it to the wood with a ring.
Ya finalizando le coloqué al gato un collar de piel de serpiente con varios accesorios de bisutería y lo fijé en la madera con una argolla.
Lastly, I used a bit of wood oil to bring out the natural colors of the wood. I also put a gloss on the water to seal and make the work more resistant and durable.
Por último, utilicé un poco de aceite para madera y así resalta los colores naturales de la misma. También le coloqué un brillo al agua para así sellar y hacer que el trabajo sea más resistente y duradero.
