EXODE hosts its pre-distribution LAST EVENT: ship leaves on April 30th!
This is a big time for science fiction game EXODE, as it now covers its last stretch of development before it tries distribution.
Before it happens, we also open up one very last moment for alpha and beta players.
This event will happen on April 30th at 6 PM UTC.
It is the last event between EXODE early players,
so we want it to be one of the most successful in EXODE history.
We looked at the world of 2325...
And we think we handpicked one of the biggest, most original, most interesting features. But we are biased, so let's see if you will agree!
We had an issue last time when doing something similar:
... our 60 Secret Files packs were sold out in two hours!
and they were not even announced on our blog!
This time we think we have enough room for everyone, but still hope that you can get into it soon enough to score some advantages.
So what have we picked up for this event?

This event happens almost one week before Colonization Day:
which has been announced for May 6th!
A change of policy
EXODE now wants to focus only on gameplay, distribution and existing content.
Once gameplay features are there we want to cover all our backlog of features.
Devlindos has a lot of work there.
So that is definitely our last content before everything runs on existing content. This will continue at least until distribution runs a bit, and new players got their bearings in everything EXODE, and we consider that to be months after beta boosters can be opened.
We will also adjust our store page:
We will keep only Starters and one type of Boosters in our shop.
We will also explore "Arrival Packs" which contain weapons and other starting equipement purchased from players, as possible additional options.
The Conquest of Achea pack will be back at some point but only once Conquest of Achea itself has been tested between players (and we are eager to test this!) : and if you approve that gameplay!
If new players have to run on existing content and no special pack from us, this also means: more interest into YOUR special packs! you will be the suppliers of it!
Our supporters deserve all that effort, and I can't thank you enough for that support.
Of course, distribution will scale up once we validate our colonization day content and adjust an early Aramea page.
Oh by the way, we have done a lot in the last few months, we haven't covered them in blog articles yet. We already got nearly 130 articles we wrote on EXODE! We'll get to that content later.
Some new gameplay
You allowed us to work on gameplay features since the 3 last months, even though we knew we were late on some other contents! We want to thank you for this.
Gameplay needed that space!
This succeeded as it gave us enough clarity to program and merge four upcoming colonization systems:
- our Teams concept,
- the citizens Rest & Contribute,
- Away Teams and its dangers
- and Crafting
... in a first working prototype to be put into the hands of players, and with ideas that should allow a durable economy and some interactivity, such as with the "crafting session" concept.
Our build for Colonization is - let's be honest - still being worked on.
But it will still open up on May 6th. We will discuss these details in another article next week.
We have also designed our first PVP system for Conquest of Achea in a will to test a common system with new dice pools.
We were able to do that thanks to your support when releasing the Secret Files, the Conquest of Achea and our previous contents.
And after this event, it will be up to distribution to support us and carry us to the next steps!

Now let's get to this event!
This is one last event when players have a specific opportunity to get something interesting before long.
This support here is also necessary to make sure we can test out distribution in good conditions. So EXODE had some needs and had to see what it could give to its players!
Yup, you perfectly understand what this means:
We are going to unleash something big to the exoverse.
I know, I know, that's ominous!
Something you'll be very fond of.
So what item could we think of?
With one good value advantage? and also some fun?
Something in limited mint that benefits from "not scaling up" in numbers to preserve its value?
And preserving existing value on packs?
We found it:
on a faction we really wanted to develop for so long.
Well, there are so many factions we want to deepen in 2325.
But we opted for this one, and as you'll see below, it just makes so much sense.
This big opportunity will speak of...
Geneticians!
Who says Geneticians also says: crazy science!
Now we want to use some superlative, and you'll excuse us for using them.
You know Geneticians are creative people!But we feel this opportunity will go through the roof with its proposed feature (and yes, even if your roof is steel-made!), as Genetician Packs are announced as a way to create your own Character Cards.
New format to get it
We propose a new format for this.
You will be able to place purchases into a pool.
Geneticians Packs will only be allowed from this pool.
Except player trading, there will be no other way to get them aside from this pool.
From April 30th to May 9th, it will be an opened reservation time:
and everyone who gets in will be in the first pool.
That's even more good news, isn't it?
In the first pool, for every dollar you'll get +20 points.
Once this time is over, we'll open the second pool.
You can read the last section of this article to find out more about that moment!
Once the Genetician Packs are made available, you will be able to exchange these points to get your Genetician Packs. For this you can use 1800 points for one Genetician Pack.
You can also decide to exchange these points for other packs, for a rate we will determine for all new packs allowing this pool system.
We already know that EXOFUEL, EXOCREDITS and Boosters will allow one such conversion, so that you can use any leftover point in whichever way you fancy. [ We may plan on 70 points for one booster, to be nice, but we'll release these conversion points later. ]
Points are yours and you can't transfer them.
But they still gives players a lot of flexibility!
More content may be also available from this system, if we find that players are happy with it!
Thanks to this system, we may also reward players for the time spent testing EXODE, so you may receive some bonus points later which you can also use for conversion.

And now we get to the fun stuff!
You know how Geneticians care about making people happy.
Or actually, about making their "genes" match and party.[ Sorry for the prose! ]
Time to get serious:
let's see what these packs will allow!
The breakthrough allowed by Genetician packs will be to accumulate power every week, and use that power at some point to create new Character Cards.
To do this, you will just select two compatible character cards (one male, one female), validate, use some power, and this will produce a new card based on their template and some random procedural engine.
Note that the initial cards will be burned, which gives a very, very interesting mechanic that creates a huge new value and still distributes value to existing cards.
That hybrid will be unique, thanks to the procedural engine, unless many hybrids try to copy hat one. Then, you could select this hybrid again and others... and produce new cards again!
Imagine the potential in factions and character setups!
Every unique character you have will also become an opportunity for new character cards you can create!
Unique cards will have hitherto unseen value!
Rarer cards, however, will use up more of your pack power as should be to protect cards value.
Legendary hybrids will use up a dramatic lot of power and use many weeks or many packs ; but thanks to this rule, they will also be even more unique and keep an immense value.
Genetician Packs will also be evolutive packs ("upgrading contract packs" is one of the features in our backlog) with ways to give them more power per weeks or give additional "potential traits" to their hybrids thanks to upgrades.
And one last interesting note:
holding Genetician faction cards in your collection will also power them up a bit more every week!
there are very few ones in alpha, and some others to discover soon in beta boosters!

And are there enough seats on this?
We worked on a process to avoid the "sold out" time of Secret Files.
This new content is interesting too, and we still want to reward early backers!
So let's review the process.
Privileged Reservation time
The first pool is opened for ten days (from April 30th to May 9th).
It allows everyone to get in during that time, to get +20 points per usd.
So you want to be there, and EXODE says it wants it too!
Once this "priority time" is over:
If less than 200 000 points are taken globally: (10k usd)
the remaining points out of 200 000 are allowed for latecomers: at 1 usd for +20 points.But if at least 200 000 points have been reached already:
congratulations pilots!
a "milestone reached" announcement is made ; everyone who got in during that time also gets a bonus of 100 points for every 1000 points they have put into it. It's a victory!
Normal time (with limited seats)
After this:
And once 200 000 points are taken:
The second pool is opened!
It will have only 168 000 points (no more, no less) and give 14 points for 1 usd.
This means there are 12k usd for the second seats.
Once this part is sold out - which may take the time it needs!
Then everyone with at least 1000 points (including in first pool) gets 200 free points per 1000 points.
We like to give this collaborative bonus to every player who took part: as it's a big victory for our game!
This makes a possible population of packs, but as you saw above:
they also follow a very interesting rule about their use.
... rare cards from other players are also still interesting specimens!
... hybrids you keep for "later hybrids" are also kept in your genetician cuves!
... and the more captains who come to EXODE, the more who will want to get your perfect creatures!
There are many creative ways to use your advantage here, in a varied economy.

Finally, my favorite faction gets some much needed attention. I like the sound and potential of this new gene-splicing mechanic and am very excited to test it.
If I had doubles, or any at all, then I would hybridize a Genetician Scientist with various members of the Flesh Cult. They seem like the perfect match made in eXo heaven.

Making cards will really be a fun activity for players. I have always liked the breeding / making bio critters in games before.
Genetician Packs are a stroke a genius!
Does this mean there will be little to no new cards created by Elindos for a while because of what players can generate? Not that it matters because this feature is huge and opens up a lot headroom for gameplay. Excellent work, Sir!
