Wounded Heart || A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

The beautiful rose flowers withered as it hit the floor. Maria had thrown them as far as her strength carried her. Her face was red, she paced inside of her small cottage. 'Not again' she said, angry at herself for making a fool of herself twice.

"It was supposed to be a date," she muttered softly with a grim face. The more she thought about it, the more she became angry. She held the wall clock and threw it on the floor. She had stayed for hours gazing at the clock and expecting Greg to come.

"Maybe love is not for me, right? She asked her little dog , Domino, which was lying quietly beside her.

Thinking of Greg's betrayal was painful. She had given her all to see the date become a success. But here she was, losing each time she decided to give love a try. A ring on her phone broke her up from the thoughts.

"Are you maria" a voice came from the other end of phone

"Yes I am" she responded..

"We are calling to let you know Greg had an accident and is dead. We collected this number from his phone as the last dialed number.

Maria couldn't believe her ears. She sobbed all night and held on to life as the reason behind her sadness. She never recovered from his pain. Each year, at the exact date with which Greg died, she sets up a table like that of a date, and stays continually at the window hoping Greg will show up. Maria carried this hurt all through her life

Rather sad that Maria had to carry this pain with her for lifetime. I'm sure Greg wouldn't have wanted her to pine so. Nicely written!

That indeed is very painful. At least she knows he did not betray or played her. Must be the worst date ever.

It's a very painful phase of her life but pining for a lifetime is taking it overboard.

What a tragedy! I can't imagine what Maria must have gone through when the incident happened.

Death on a date day! What effect it would have on Maria is only better imagined. But Life must go on, don't let yours stand still.

Wow she thought she had been stood up, not knowing her love had died on his way to her. A very heart melting story.

Losing a lover like that must be painful for Maria, I can only imagine what she will pass through, only time will be able to heal her wound. !LUV
