My Experience with the Banking Sector

The stress and unsatisfaction from customer service in the banking hall is discomforting. Especially when you visit the bank and stay the entire day without solving your complaints. I feel sad whenever I'm told to come back the next day or that the network is bad. It's like a day wasted trying to beg for my own money. My worst experience with a bank happened some years ago, the very first time I opened a bank account.

In 2015, I had just gotten an admission in Zaria, so I opened a bank account and processed all I needed to do and obtained an ATM card only to discover it wasn't working after I'd traveled to Zaria . I visited their branch in Zaria and I was told it was because my account wasn't updated, and that I needed an ID card. At that time I had no ID card, so I went to a cafe to make a plastic ID Card, after which I returned with it and I was told they're working on it and it should be ready to use the next day. Lo and beyond, I still encountered the same issue of my card not being recognized. I went to the bank and I was told they're working on it and they kept working on it for a week and it still did not work.

I went to another branch where they reactivated the card and I was told to fill a lot of forms , it should start working , go and try it, they told me. I Tried it and it still did not work and I kept coming for a week until one of the staff advised me to go to the branch where I opened it. I had to travel all the way from zaria to Abuja to activate the card. The banker there asked me to go do an ID card, which he did not collect. There was no need, He said. He touched a few things and told me to go try it, it was that moment it started to work. But just when I was done with one, another arised.

I had changed my active number on my account and even received an alert that very day but that was the last day I received an alert. I was trying to make an online transaction when I noticed there was a change in my number. Instead of 080, I saw 070. I don't know who changed it to 070 because I received an alert the same day I had effected the change. I visited the bank on several occasions because I needed to make some payment online that required verification. I kept going from one branch to another until I got slight luck with a bank that added another of my numbers and claimed to have made it the primary number. Up till today, That old number still appears each time I want to make an online transaction. I receive an alert on my current number but ask for the previous number whenever I want to make payment online. The problem has not been solved but i can't waste my time going to the bank because one is not always satisfied.

Bank and come back later? 5&6! I don’t know if it’s because they are just lazy to not bother or they deliberately frustrate people but they are fond of wasting precious time

When ones account isn't reading a million, they seem to care less

From Zaria to Abuja, one branch to the other , one issue to the next. Naija banks don't care about their customers and how to meet their request in a satisfactory manner. You will be asked to fill lots of forms that only God knows what they are using it to do.

Nigeria is our country 😜😂😂.
