Memories

Silence
The noise in the street is deafened
Left with memories as the years draw nigh
The clouds had long gone and the stars darkened
Every desire fail and the sound of grinding is low
The clock on the street walls tick slowly
As all that's left to hear is silence

You can find the poet picture prompt here

Regrets
The pitcher is broken at the fountain
As the past finds it way to the heart
Vanity was the day of his youth
Wasted laid all his labour
He sought for a meaning
But the golden bowl was broken
What more could he do in his frail age
Left on a costume of regrets

He ponder
Maybe there was one more chance
Maybe there was still hope for a decayed seed
Amidst the silence in the street
Betwixt the surge of regrets
He could still give a lad wisdom
To escape the days of doom.

This poem is a great ode to the failings of misspent youth @dwixer 👍
The poem almost oozes the sticky feeling of regret with each line. But I like the way you wrap it up with a glimmer of hope...

Betwixt the surge of regrets
He could still give a lad wisdom
To escape the days of doom.

Great stuff 🙂

Glad you like the wrap up. No matter the situation, I believe there's still something one can do

an interesting structure with the three stanzas of 6, 8, 6 verses.

there is some lines which end with rhymes to those above, but most dont and it makes me wonder how deliberate that is. it would be nicer to see either a rhyme structure, or an absence of such.

it's a poem which evokes feelings of memory for thos of us older, and stands as a warning for those younger.

nice work

I didn't even notice the stanzas. I allowed my heart guide the lines.

For poem, I'm still learning, hoping to understand more the structures. Thanks a lot for your feedback. I appreciate

Beautiful how you describe the passage of time in a man who now lives of memories and thinks of everything he could have done and did not do, now he only has to make known his mistakes and ensure that others do not repeat the experience. Thank you for sharing, greetings.

Very cool poem I loved it very much because it talks about the pros and cons, older people are very important for everyone, memories as we reach an age are the only thing we have left and as long as we have life there will always be other opportunities, great poem my friend ♥

These are really good.

I love the notion that the elderly can

still give a lad wisdom

So very true! But will they listen? Our cultures these days no longer seem to value our elders, casting onto the streets or into nursing homes where their wisdom is lost, and their regrets are legion.
