Elon musk, My New Found Dad

I can't forget the date, it was 6am, April 1, 1993. The soft ringtone from my phone woke me up from an unknown caller. I wasn't expecting a call from the office that very day because I was still on my leave. I picked up the call and waited patiently for the caller to speak.

"Hello Jeff, this is Elon musk and the DNA runned on the workers in Nisa hospital proves you are my son".

I took the phone away from my ear to check the number again, it must be a wrong number, I thought. It was true that i work in Nisa hospital, but the whole idea of Parenthood must have been mistaken

"This might be a wrong number" I said, not wanting to believe.

"I know it's hard to believe. I've asked the manager to call you for the briefing. I'll send a car to come pick up. Meet you soon son" he said then hung up the call.

I've lived in poverty all these years and here's a claim from one of the wealthiest men to be my dad. So many thoughts ran through my mind, thoughts of betrayal from my supposed parents, thoughts of joy that my suffering would end, mixed feelings not wanting to leave this bond and love we have shared for years and anger that he(Elon musk) left me all these years only to show up claiming to be my father and not feeling remorse or apologetic for the years he didn't take up his fatherly roles. But I needed to know if it was true. I picked up my phone and dialed my mum's number.

"We need to talk mum" She knew something was wrong, whenever I demanded a talk, it was often serious.

"What's it son?"

"Who's my real Dad?" I asked.

"We can't discuss this on the phone, I'll call at your place from the office".

A few minutes later, a car drove into my compound. A good looking man dressed in a suit stepped down and introduced himself.

"Elon musk asked that I come drive you to your office".

It was getting real, I couldn't Imagine myself being introduced as a son to one of the richest men. I freshened up and joined him. It took a few minutes to drive from my home to the office, the comfort of the car made the journey more relaxing and in no time we were in the office. I waited eagerly for the manager to break the good news to me. He stared at me for some time without saying a word. I could no longer wait any longer so I asked him

"Sir, is it true that a DNA test was carried out and Elon musk happens to be my father?"

"What's today's date?" He asked

"April 1, 1993"

He chuckled when he noticed I still haven't gotten it.

"Congratulations Jeff, we've successfully fooled you. It's April fool day"

I couldn't believe my manager at work had planned this and I had fallen for it. I should have known better what the date was. All what I've visualized died down. I promised myself to play him the same game next time.
