The biggest hallaca in Venezuela[ESP=ENG]

Greetings, dear community, today I am here to tell you that I had the opportunity to attend in the month of December, specifically on the 28th, to the realization of the largest hallaca that is known to be performed in the country and this happened in the state of Trujillo, in the city of Valera and in the Bella Vista sector of this city.

For the realization of the hallaca, its assembly, they made a structure of cabillas of the length that was going to be made and there it was assembled, the first thing that the people who were going to make it did was to cover with banana leaves, which is the wrapper with which the hallacas are made, the whole structure of cabillas these leaves were in double form because with them was that then they were going to wrap it completely the hallaca, for this task there were a large number of people collaborating.

Saludos, estimada comunidad, hoy estoy aquí para contarles que estuve la oportunidad de asistir en el mes de diciembre, específicamente el 28, a la realización de la hallaca más grande que se tenga conocimiento que se realiza en el país y esto ocurrió en el estado Trujillo, en la ciudad de Valera y en el sector Bella Vista de esta ciudad.

Para la realización de la hallaca, su armado, realizaron una estructura de cabillas del largo que se iba a realizar y allí se armó, lo primero que realizaron las personas que la iban a realizar fue cubrir con las hojas de plátano, que es la envoltura con la cual se realizan las hallacas, toda la estructura de cabillas estas hojas iban en forma doble porque con ellas era que luego iban a envolverla por completo la hallaca, para esta tarea existían una gran cantidad de personas colaborando.

As far as I could find out, this is a community initiative that has been going on for several years, and every year they add a meter to it, for this December 2023 the length was supposed to be 31 meters, so many collaborators were really needed for the assembly and then take it to the huge container where it was going to be cooked.

Por lo que pude indagar, esta es una iniciativa de la comunidad que ya lleva varios años realizándose, y cada año le aumentan un metro para este diciembre del 2023 la longitud que tenía supuestamente era de 31 metros, por lo cual realmente se necesitaban muchos colaboradores para el ensamblaje y luego llevarla hasta donde estaba el enorme recipiente donde se iba a cocinar.

The container where the hallaca was cooked is a structure made with metal drums split in half and joined by welding and with supports at a certain distance from the ground, the cooking fire was made by placing firewood along the container at the bottom and the truth is that the fire from the wood was quite vigorous because I could tell that it was boiling.

El recipiente donde se cocinó la hallaca es una estructura realizada con tambores de metal partidos a la mitad y unidos mediante soldaduras y con soportes a cierta distancia del suelo, el fuego para cocinar se realizó colocándole leña a lo largo del recipiente en la parte de abajo y la verdad que ese fuego producto de la leña era bastante vigoroso porque pude darme cuenta de que soltaba el hervor.

Then, once the hallaca was assembled among many collaborators, they took it to the place of the big recipient that was already boiling and with that vigorous fire, the hallaca was cooking for about two hours, From there it was taken out of the water and taken back to the place where it was assembled to wait for it to cool a little and the people in charge of distributing to those present were going to give them to taste the hallaca, the truth is that I did not dare to try the hallaca because while we were there talking and having a good time, also having a few cold beers, because I did not feel hungry enough to eat.

Entonces una vez que se culminó de ensamblar la hallaca entre muchos colaboradores la llevaron hasta el sitio del gran recipiente que ya se encontraba en ebullición y con ese fuego vigoroso, la hallaca estuvo como dos horas en la cocción, de allí fue sacada del agua y llevada nuevamente al sitio donde fue ensamblada para esperar que enfriara un poco y las personas encargadas de repartir a los presentes les iban a dar a degustar la hallaca, la verdad que yo no me anime a probar la hallaca porque mientras estábamos allí conversando y pasando un buen rato, además tomándonos unas cervecitas frías, pues no sentía hambre como para comer.

I also want to tell you that it was a very lively evening, since people from different sectors of Valera attended, so there were many people at the site, which was the square of the sector, vendors of many things, inflatables for children.

Quiero manifestarles además que eso fue una velada muy animada, ya que asistían personas de diferentes sectores de Valera, por lo cual había muchas personas en el sitio, que era plaza del sector, vendedores de muchas cosas, inflables para los niños.

There was also a stage where there were people who animated the event and were saying how was the development of the preparation of the hallaca, there were also several local groups, and many people were dancing, the truth was that it was a very nice event developed within the Christmas festivities, I can only congratulate the organizers for such a nice event.

También existía una tarima donde estaban las personas que animaban el evento e iban diciendo como iba el desarrollo de la preparación de la hallaca, también se presentaron varios grupos locales, y pues muchas personas se ponían a bailar, la verdad que fue un evento muy lindo desarrollado dentro de las festividades navideñas, no me queda más que felicitar a los organizadores por tan lindo acontecimiento.
