It's taken me most of a lifetime to realise that considering your own needs does not equate to weakness or self-indulgence. What a pity we can't age in reverse a la Benjamin Button. Youth is wasted on the young!:)

Why, you mean like not pushing yourself to the limit when you're young or, God forbid, ask for... help? What next? You're gonna tell me I could've told certain people "You cannot treat me like that!"
On the other hand, it's good to figure things out even later in life. I know plenty of people who are still clueless...
