My Actifit RC: August 8th August 23 - A long journey through the churches of Giugliano - IAAC 427

A dear greeting to all lovers of physical activities that populate the mythical community of Actifit.

After a long period of infernal summer we had a period of 15 days of a very nice and pleasant summer and I’m taking the opportunity to dedicate myself to all my commitments before you feel the great heat.

This morning we find ourselves celebrating immediately iamalivechallenge 427 because from now on there will be no time even to reflect a little. Here I am at the station of Chiaiano, district of the north-western suburbs of Naples.

We are leaving for the town of Giugliano in Campania of Naples, a charming and chaotic town in the province of Naples.

Guest star of iamalivechallenge 427 my son Gaetano who will accompany us on a long and instructive journey. He turns 11 tomorrow, and he needs to start exercising.

The long period of break in the heat wave is ending and the last veils of cold air at high altitude accompany us towards a new recrudescence of the African summer.

Walking with my son along the main artery of Giugliano on glimpses the outline of a small architectural masterpiece of the masters Fontana and Vaccaro very often mentioned in my past iamalivechallenge.

The church of Santa Sofia is clearly frescoed with the masterful stucco of Vaccaro while the altar is covered by a sheet showing a photo of how it will be once the restoration is finished.

The ceiling is also covered by a large veil of the restoration site but you can see very well seven paintings by the painter Nicola Cacciapuoti depicting the life of San Giuliano.

Of extraordinary beauty is the wooden organ decorated in gold in the Baroque style of 1720 by master Fabrizio Cimino.

Very beautiful the chapel of the treasure of San Giuliano that we can already admire restored with all its stucco decorations and inside there was a politician maybe a councillor or the mayor.

In the side chapels of the church there are paintings depicting scenes from the Old Testament also by Nicola Cacciapuoti artist of the Caravaggio school of Solimena.

The first architect of the church was the archistar of the time Domenico Fontana who was inspired by the design of the church of Sant'Andrea della Valle in Rome.

Of remarkable beauty is also the bichromatic dome.

The entrance door is in piperno with an iron door decorated with two bas-reliefs. This portal dates back to the construction of the church in 1600.

On the other side of the church there is the bell tower to you plans of 1700 that once carried 3 beautiful statues that have been stolen. Unfortunately similar phenomena have been frequent in this city.

Today, continuing our walk, Gaetano and I also arrived at the auction church of San Nicola da Bari that I immortalized defying the sun’s rays.

Gaetano’s patience to come with me to take pictures of this wonderful city was rewarded with a nice burger sandwich King resulting in a ride on the slide outside the venue.

Since he was sweating a lot we started to go back home because the way back was very long.

With one last photo of the church of the Annunciation I send you back to tomorrow’s stage of yet another adventurous iamalivechallenge.
