Teardown gameplay and first impressions

This ain't it πŸ™…β€β™‚οΈπŸ”¨

The headliner for the PS Plus game catalog for the month of November 2023 is none other than a brand new indie title called Teardown. It's not often that games launch day 1 on PS Plus, but it's happened a few times here and there. The standout title to do it was of course Stray, the very popular indie game where you play as a cat.

Just because Teardown is a brand-new game doesn't mean that it is good. That is why I had to take the time to play it myself to see if it was worth being showcased as the biggest game of the month. This month was absolutely awful in terms of PS Plus titles. There is literally not one single game that I am excited to play. Most of them are really old or just not very popular at all.

Let me briefly discuss what Teardown is supposed to be.

Teardown is said to be an exhilarating and innovative video game that takes the concept of destruction to a whole new level. Developed by Tuxedo Labs, this first-person heist game combines the thrill of planning and executing intricate heists with a unique voxel-based destruction engine. The game's premise revolves around a player-controlled character who is tasked with infiltrating various structures and extracting valuable items. What sets Teardown apart is its dynamic environment, where almost every object can be destroyed, reshaped, or repurposed to achieve the player's objectives. The voxel-based physics engine allows for realistic and satisfying destruction, enabling players to carve their path through buildings, creating chaos and unpredictability in each mission.

The game's visual style is both charming and functional, with a minimalist aesthetic that complements the voxel-based mechanics. The use of vibrant colors and a distinct retro-inspired atmosphere adds a layer of nostalgia to the overall experience. Teardown successfully combines strategic planning with emergent gameplay, as players are encouraged to think on their feet and adapt to the ever-changing environments they create. The variety of tools and explosives at the player's disposal further enhances the creativity in approach, allowing for a wide range of solutions to each heist.

Teardown also features a sandbox mode, providing players with an open-ended environment to experiment with the game's destruction mechanics freely. This mode allows for limitless creativity, enabling players to design and execute their own elaborate heists or simply indulge in unrestrained chaos. The combination of strategic gameplay, impressive physics, and a visually appealing design makes Teardown a standout title in the indie gaming scene, offering a fresh and exciting take on the heist genre.

With all of that said, I absolutely hated Teardown. This clearly is not my type of game. I just don't get how something like this is supposed to be fun. Then again, this is coming from somebody who has never and will never play Minecraft. I'm not big on building my own things in games and I have zero interest in simply destroying structures nonstop.

I'm sure there will be some people who enjoy this game a lot, but that certainly is not going to be me. I already regret the 15-20 minutes I wasted playing this one, but I wanted to show it because I figured some of you may be into it.

Here is my gameplay and very unenthusiastic commentary. Enjoy!

Thanks for watching and be sure to drop any comments you may have down below, I will get back to everyone.

I don't know if I'm going to hate it hahaha. But like you I agree and it's not my type of game. It looks very good when you burn down the house, destroy it and so on. But it's not really a game where I would invest much of my time either. I like the graphics. Greetings and thanks for sharing.

Trust me, it's trash unless you are one of those people that somehow enjoys super boring games like this one.

I bought it at launch on PC and kinda enjoyed it. But it's not as fun as I expected.

My little brother absolutely loves it though, he loves downloading maps off of Steam Workshop and demolishing the shit out of them xD

You just enjoy games similar to this sometimes. Frankly, I never do. I know there are people who must love this type of game or else they wouldn't keep making so many of them.

Minecraft kind of game? Pass. I also don't like those kinds of games.
And LOL I have no idea what those PS Plus games are. Hope they have something good next time!

My thoughts exactly. Not the type of game I ever want to spend time playing. The past few months have been god awful for PS Plus. Ending the year on a sour note.
