Cross Culture Weekend Threads #24: Superstitions

Nice turnout this week! Lots of beautiful pictures of food that makes me want to travel. I saw a couple things I had never seen before from various countries. I'm more of a chocolate guy, but I would like to try all these desserts made from milk and nuts and coconut.

I should have posted some desserts but since I'm not entering into the contest I will get around to it this coming week :-)

This week’s topic

"What's a superstition that you grew up with?"

I'd be surprised if there were any countries in the world without superstitions. Ideas get passed down from generation to generation based on religions (both current and past) or trying to explain some customs or some aspect of life, and those survive the test of time.

I know that some superstitions cross borders but many are unique to an area or to a tribe or small group.

What is a superstition you or your parents grew up with? It doesn't matter if you believe in it or not. Feel free to tell us whether you do or not, but we just want to know what people around you believe.

Give us as much information as you care to.

Feel free to make multiple entries, as long as you take each entry seriously.

How to thread:

1 Go to Leo’s landing page and login to your hive account, choose which community to post a thread in with the little world icon and choose Cross Culture!

Leo threads main:

2 Go to Cross Culture and click on the threads tabs where you can post without having to set the community:

I'm definitely putting in an entry for this. What do you think @yahuzah, @pravesh? Any superstitions in your country?
