The biggest sea storm that I remember in Viavelez
My entry to Qurator`s Photo Quest: Extreme Weather Photography
During the spring and summer months the Cantabrian sea that bathes the coast of my land, Asturias, usually has a normal swell between 1 and 4 meters high, so that the danger of the coast is rather low, but we must always be alert.
With the arrival of autumn and winter is increasingly common to find deep squalls that cause major storms.
This storm is the most extreme storm that I remember in the fishing port of Viavelez in Asturias.
Fifteen years have passed since this great storm with waves over 9 meters high, but I still remember the roar of the sea as if it were today.
Fortunately, the material damage was not very important and best of all is that there were no human casualties unlike what happened on other occasions by the imprudence of wanting to see the rough sea very closely.
Best regards.
